Sega Net Mahjong MJ
http://sega-mj.com/ Sega's arcade MJ game ported to PC and iOS with cross-play between the two formats. iOS requires a JP iTunes account, unfortunately. PC version res is the same as the iPad. Whole thing's very beta right now. Free to play except for events and leagues. Janryumon took a lot of its ...

Re: WWYD 2013-07-22
9s then 8s. I have more groups of tiles here than I know what to do with, and with all these dora there's no reason I shouldn't be calling for the quick tanyao.

Also South. I have more potential sets than I need and the least useful is definitely the no-value pair.

7p. There's the distant possibility of this eventually becoming a flush. However, It would be premature to just throw out what I have in the other suits just to chase the flush. A pair isn't really important to me at this early stage, and the East might help later if more man tiles come in and the f...

Re: Janryumon's update to Shin JRM as of earlier this week
I started with around 15,000 but I had a lot of league tickets built up from events, and I think Shin JRM converted them all into game money. There are a huge amount of grind-for-money events, like the weekly bingo grid, but the rewards there are kind of absurdly low for what they want you to do. Th...

Re: Mahjong on Youtube
I also recommend you do this on Nicovideo.
Mondo TV stuff (and Tenkuu Mahjong) is mostly expensive pay-per-view on Nico, so anybody who uploads it gets shut down fast. If you see it, you might not want to wait around...

HOW TO TELL WHETHER OR NOT A JAPANESE OTAKU GAME IS ACTUALLY PORNOGRAPHIC OR JUST HEAVILY PASTEL-COLORED:
They will always show a montage of sex scenes at the end of the trailer.
Now go on and live your lives having been enriched by this knowledge.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but Mahjong Tengokuhai is probably the best client for iOS right now. It has a good interface, online play, 3p (online only), and it has a good variety of single-player stuff to do like a survival mode.

Re: Janryumon changes earlier this week!
The changes seem to indicate that they couldn't get people to pay up for much (the clam currency, kaimo, is real money) and decided to make changes to the system as a result. The fast-mode doesn't really make matches go any quicker, after all. It's the animations in JRM that took so much time, and t...

Re: WWYD 2012/05/23
9-dot is the most useless tile here: we've already discarded it, there aren't any more of it on the board, so there's no difference between the 799-dot shape and a 79-dot shape. I certainly don't want to break up the pair of dora, nor do I want to break up the more potentially useful shapes in the r...

Also, for what it's worth, when I got a Dragon tile set blemishes like that started to happen just about as soon as they came out of the wrapping.

I'm cutting 9-sou here too. I have two dora here already, so I feel no need to break up a good shape in favor of a bad one.

Re: A Bit of Help Required
I figured it couldn't hurt to do this myself, and maybe this'll become a "post your stats" thread? This is a new account: I lost the ID for the last one (3xbreak, break^3 after that, I basically ran out of ways to type my handle in English on Tenhou) and figured, fine, I'll do it from scratch again....

I wouldn't be able to tell you since I don't have the serials anymore, but I was definitely able to redeem them.
