Re: Some exotic rule options

If I remember correctly, the haku is wild, a joker tile, there were some specifications about that, like its not a joker when you throw it away, but just a haku. Used in some parlors in japan I believe. I also saw a video on youtube with red 3's, so theyre just more extra dora I think? Somebody can ...

Re: Could this debacle jave been avoided?

player on your left discarded the dora, east claiming white dragon, player opposite of you going riichi, Every one of these actions should have stopped your hand. The 4-dot hadn't been thrown once, and there were no indications that it is safe to anyone since the table also lacked 7-dot. Dealers man...

Re: New WWYD

3-crak, I think breaking either of the 3-dot 3-dot or 4-dot 4-dot is a bad idea. Just going for tanyao by melding is fine for me with that lead.

Leaving the 3-crak in your hand would damage the 234 or 345 sanshoku too, having 6 sets in the hand, you'd eventually have to break one.

Re: Chi for Ron

just why would that be a bug? that is just as valid wait as any other wait. If it gave the opponent points for a PINFU with closed wait, then it's a bug.

Re:Greetings and some questions

I think the first hand example could be interpreted as tanyao pinfu ryanpeiko dora1, haneman 12000/18000.

The second one as tanyao pinfu ipeko dora1, 4han 30fu 7700/11600.

Re:2 small rules questions

The first question has troubled me also, I think the dealer status should be kept ofcourse if the dealer has won, but I see no strategic advantage of giving up the dealership, unless you can see to the future and predict that somebody is going to make a monster tsumo :D For the second question, you ...

Re:Pinfu and Menzen Tsumo

I think SNES-game Mahjong Taikai (or something like that) had that rule, but I don\'t think the modern rules use or mention it.

If there was a book, it\'s probably in japanese. Not really much mahjong literature involving strategy guides :(

hahah, I constantly play against people who start calling terminal pungs, rather than going for open tanyao, but that flowchart is spot on.

I would bet my money on Take set, since they are toffee-backs, no notch, or the things "holding" the back, and one of the 4pins has a flaw of no hole drilled in the centre of one of the flowers (I have that same flaw in my Take set).
