Re: My hand of the week

There was a hand like this in Saki, wasn't there?

With more bells, of course, because anime, but... Riichi, Ippatsu, Tsumo, Pinfu, Junchan, Sanshoku, Iipeikou, Dora 3

Re: another gameplay question

Yes, this is one more case of rule-point you need to establish beforehand. It's a very uncommon situation, though, but you seem to have gotten the examples under the rulesets explained. A situation like Barticle explained a couple posts above mine, where you could get punished unfairly if you count ...

I will look those, thank you both. I'm finding myself pursuing ittsu too much, or maybe something like sanshoku... I need to learn more flexibility, I guess. (Maybe this should have gone in the Dojo...)

So, aparently, I'm not there yet.

OK, I am not a good player, that's for sure. In any case, I've been trying This trainer I've found, and it complains a lot about my choices. I've done this on several short sessions, so I can't claim fatigue or anything. But yeah, these numbers seem indicative of a poor play. Anyway, these are my st...

Re: Help

We were at the same spot one time, don't worry. :) A good tip is this: Don't call a tile just because you can. If you don't have a yaku in mind, you may end up without one, as with the original hand there. Once you get comfortable in knowing how to win, you can start thinking about learning how not ...

Re: Help

On the topic of what other yaku you were close to, here's another one. If you had 8-bam 8-bam 8-bam instead of 9-bam 9-bam 9-bam you would have been able to win, since having all the pieces to be numbered between 2 and 8 (both inclusive) is a yaku.

What rules do you use? 3.0 (2020 edition)

In a recent thread, user or2az said they weren't in time to answer to similar threads that have been here before, in 2012 and 2017. So I thought I would go and open one again. I'll be following this nice table that user Shirluban also posted in the aforementioned recent thread. Note: I don't have a ...

Re: How to deal when there are 2 winners

Like shirluban explained perfectly well, this is one of the many rules you'll have to pick how do you want to play. Of course, if you are playing in a tournament, you'll have to do as the tournament ruleset says, but for friendly games like you say, just pick one of the options and make that the rul...

Re: another gameplay question

Shirluban is correct. Remember this: There are not furiten tiles, there are furiten hands. If you are furiten on one of your "waits", you are furiten on all of them. And I put quotation marks around "waits" because a no-yaku wait still counts as a wait. If you don't claim a wait, you are furiten unt...
