Re: First Live Game

Yea. Thanks to Tenhou... or other PC/online means of playing...

The wall building... and even... execution of making (chii, pon, kan) calls... can make one clumsy. Simply because -- the computer manages that kind of stuff for us. Ah... I remember the day when I first sat down at the table.

Re: Chankan so Hard to Get

I scored Chankan once in 3-player mode, where my online buddy, who showed me mahjong, was like:

"Oh no you didn't."

"Oh yes, I did"

:D

Re: Yakuman Club

Couple weeks ago. I pulled a Ryu Iiso. Without any Hatsu ('cause I was chasing Chinitsu earlier).

Unfortunately, I cannot furnish a picture at this time. But I have witnesses. 8) Either way, my first with live tiles. Glad to have gotten that out of the way.

Re: First Live Game

Another thing I can tell you about the Live Game vs Online. You become more self-conscious about getting Ron'd. Why? It can be very embarrassing, especially when the person's waits become more and more obvious. With this in mind, defense strategy gets more attention.

Re: Basic strategy

Sometimes, it's better to actually keep those tiles for particular yaku like chanta, junchan, etc. That's dependent on whether y'have a good shot at attaining that too.

1-dot

Setup for either a potential Ittsu, or 1-2-3 Sanshoku. Seeing that 2-pin is recently discarded, no need to have a pair of the 1-pin.

Well. Apparently, we'll be using the Standard rules for the main tournament. However, for the "Finals" table, the posted special rules will apply.

Re: A hand of a lifetime...

No, I didn't mean the site Tenhou. I meant the hand Tenhou being among the yakuman listed... as in Tenhou, Su An Kou Tanki, Dai Sushi, Tsu Iso, Parenchan.

Re: Suu Ankan or even San Ankan?

Well, look at the yaku hit rates in Tenhou:

I don't even see Su Kansu listed. And you're asking for them to be closed? That's nuts.

Re: Anime Central Tournament (2012)

Under Wareme if your wall section was broken you usually pay double on an opponent's tsumo win too. LOL on the cosplay. I may have to break out my "neko-mimmi" (and get partial). Posted 4-5 other mahjong related threads across that many forums. :D But anyways, I'll make the note to our tournament h...

Re: How to read MJ hand histories?

Playing with real tiles. Can't imagine a way other than manual. That'd be ridiculously tedious. Yet, at the Japanese pro level - I can imagine them tracking that kind of data. As for software. Looking at how Tenhou.net keeps game histories (for a certain time period). One of my early games - this ga...
