Re: Akagi
Akagi is still ongoing in manga(Kindai Mah-jan magazine). it is issued once a month. Do not surprise that for a while they don't play mahjong, but Washizu went hell and fight with demons. After coming back from hell, o-ras has been started from Apr 2014. Now October. it means 7 chapters has done. It...

Re: World Riichi Championship 2014 - rules!
This time I was referee. It was hard for me just seeing the playing!! But I could see many famous players playing. It was good. Especially Mr. Kihara who is 10dan in tenhou. Anyway. Mistake pon without revealing tile is just deposit 1,000 in the palor normally. And also the tile should not be discar...

Re: severely in need of an english translation!
It is saiteiten.
最低 minimum, bottom
最高 maximum, top
It says that at least one player should have over 30,000 point in the end.
Otherwise the game is continued to next round like West round(西入)

Re: WWYD 2014-06-01
No doubt. It is 8p.
Only you need is yakuman.
Tsumo Suanko is only chance you have.
Discarding 4b, East, your winning probabilty is 0%.
Also discarding East is still not 100% safe to opposite.
If suanko chance is gone later, then you drop the game.

Re: Japanese translation help
I'm Japanese, however it is difficult to translate them appropriate sentence. There's also the third player - The Invisible One. New blood. His skills are no match to the rest so this duel will be a truly humbling experience. The Mask presents his Magic Tile Set which, according to legends has its o...

Re: Japanese translation help
Let me confirm that The Mask won 9 gates right ? But the magic tile against him ?
I know the person who got 9 gates would die early it is the jinx. The magic tile try to bring the death to the Mask, that's why it against ?

Re: Japanese translation help
Rodos(Lodos) is well known in Japan as ロードス島戦記(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_of_Lodoss_War). Anyway it is interesting. I translated below sentence. I considered Japanese RPG like. "Bielawa - a small picteresque mountainous town somewhere in Lower Silesia is a home to a Mahjong Club. One day, a...

Re: Type of tile that is dora - differences on play style/sc

Re: WWYD 2014-04-17
The question is asking you to select the priority of "Acceptance(受け uke )" and "Change(変化 henka)". Red5 is completely detached tile(浮き牌 ukihai). As you know if you want to reduce shanten number to close tenpai, Red 5p is the candidate. But at this stage(early stage), I would select "Change" due to r...

Re: WWYD 2014-04-07
What he is saying I would discard 3p Thinking about which kind of yaku makes 2000 points, following 3 kinds of yaku can be imagined. "Yaku/Yaku" or "Yaku/Red 5" or "Honitsu". Discarding pair of 1m is efficient to aim 2000. However trying to make open for internal tiles(3-7) is difficult and speed is...

This behavior is called "Kara-giri".(and Discarding from hands -> "Tedashi", Tsumo-giri -> already mentioned)Ozball wrote:if you draw a duplicate of something already in your hand then you can discard the one from your hand to make it look like you're changing things.

Re: Furiten question
There are a lot of unspoken rule(To whom ? it depends) When I played with my friend, we confirmed standard rule for "me" but we forgot to confirmed " No Tsumo-pinfu" I declared "Tsumo-pinfu-dora2", but it was "Tsumo-dora2" For him it was standard but for me not. It is important to confirm the rule a...

Re: Furiten question
Understanding of temporary fruiten(同巡内フリテン), just only 2 rules you remember. 1. You do Tsumo or 2. Open(pon/kan/chi) by yourself Then it is gone. that's it. there are no exception. With kuikae nashi (pretty standard) it can only be like this. Or2az, can you confirm this is the case? "Pretty standard...

Re: WWYD 2014-04-07
I would discard 3-dot 7pairs is only 1,600, you can not discard red 5 without riichi. To see other pond, looks like going to tanyao form. so that can not expect 5p I think. Also maybe this game has 2 x red 5p right ? My aim is fanpai dora 1(345) or honitsu. Maybe I can make pon of 1m and hopely chi o...

Re: Why don't they riichi?
When I played with computer(Super Real Mahjong series) over 20 years ago, The strip mahjong was majority. There were nothing pure mahjong game like MFC or MJ in the arcade.
There was no doubt. That computer was really strong
I spent much coins to see "something"
