Re: 3 player reach mahjong rules...?

Hahahaha mahjong police... I better watch out. Technically, no one is really dealt 14 tiles. The player who goes 1st, normally East, starts the game by picking the first tile from the wall and then discarding one. This is exactly the same as him getting 14 tiles to begin with. Therefore, if East is ...

Re: 3 player reach mahjong rules...?

Note: The empty seat doesn't necessarily have to be north. It changes as the seats rotate. Been playing like you suggested (4 player rules with 3 players) and it's fun -- and quite quick which is nice. However, regarding your quote, what do I do when the 4th (non-existent) player is East? Normally ...

Re: 3 player reach mahjong rules...?

Oh I see! Thanks a lot! I'll try the 4-player variation with one less player. Also will check out that site and probably try the 3-player version a few times.

Re: 3 player reach mahjong rules...?

There are some threads in this forum that refer to 3-player mahjong in which you can find links to more information. They may not come up in a search because the words are too common so you may have not found them. You can, of course, just play regular 4-player rules, with an empty seat. Good luck....

Hi,

I'm wanting to try 3 player Reach Mahjong, and I'm wondering if there's a good resource for the rules?

Cheers

Re: Newbie introduction

Welcome to the forum, Kalyori! I do speak japanese too. Nothing awesome, but enough to help people here with translations of games. There's a thread called "Severely in need of an english translation!", just for that. I see, I see. That's cool. I'm just a beginner, but hoping to be fluent one day. ...

Re: Where do I draw from the dead wall after calling kan?

Hi Kalyori and welcome to the forum. 8) My PDF guide can be downloaded via the first link in my signature. Here's a sneak preview of my illustration showing the four supplement tiles and the first two tiles (X and Y) that replenish the dead wall. dead-wall.jpg Great, thanks! Appreciate the help.

Thank you everyone for your replies!
That cleared everything up.

Also or2az, thank you for telling me about that guide!
Yeah, I too forget to flip up the tiles underneath after Riichi, I think I have the hang of it now though.

Re: Newbie introduction

Hi, I learned about Riichi Mahjong from the anime Saki a while back and took an interest to it. I have the "Mahjong Demon" game on my phone and tablet -- it's really good and helped me learn initially. Recently I bought a set and play with my folks which is a lot of fun. Next step is an automatic ta...

Where do I draw from the dead wall after calling kan?

Hi, I've read a lot of rules but one thing I just can't find is where do I draw the tile from the dead wall after calling kan? At the end? Do I choose? Next to the dora indicator? On a similar note, when I replenish the dead wall with the last tile from the wall (tiles in play, I mean) do I take the...
