Re: A Bit of Help Required
One position I noticed was in the first East round of the second game you posted, third discard where your hand looked like this: 1-crak 3-crak 7-crak 8-crak 8-crak 4-dot 7-dot 7-dot 9-dot 4-bam 6-bam 7-bam 8-bam drew: 5-crak and you cut the 8-crak. I think if you had cut the 4-bam it would give you...

Re: First time Ron2 1st place finish, yay + questions
Congrats on your first win! One thing I wonder, looking at your hand and the pond, was whether or not it was a good idea to pon the 3-dot and discard the 5-dot . When I look at your score relative to the others you are in the lead, if nobody gets a big hand or Rons off of you, you win. When I look a...

Re: mahjong flight simulator
awsome, thanks! I see he has a blog as well. Looking at the program, I see that he has a file containing 2 columns, the first with 9 digits (fron 0 to 4) and the second with a variable amount. I would assume that's for looking at pinzu, manzu, and souzu runs to determine the waits. It's what I was t...

Re: mahjong flight simulator
Thanks xKime, that's exactly the one I was looking for! After I saw the HMR.exe I remembered it from before. It looks like a newer version of what I had. I tried noodling around with python and the pygame library, but all I got it to do was shuffle and show the tiles and basic layout. Figuring out h...

mahjong flight simulator
A while back I had a japanese shareware program I downloaded that would tell you how many shanten a hand was, how many waits it had, and how many tiles were available for those waits. I believe the name was "mahjong flight simulator" but I can't seem to find it. It played a solo game of mahjong (jus...

Re: Yakuman Club
I just got a yakuman on tenhou. It's my first one in years. I didn't even know I got it because I didn't think they had the "all green" yakuman there. I wasn't even aiming for it. Looks like I'm ending the year right, although I wound up losing that particular game!

Re:9 or more terminals orhonor tiles
I wish I new the math required to give a better answer on this, but I had heard if you 10 single terminals and honors (with a possible single pair of them) then go for it otherwise don\'t.

:( Sorry about that. It\'s not totally unexpected in a \"Mahjong Manga in America\" thread, though. There must be similar companies...

Re:Mahjong Manga in America
zz038, when I ordered from amazon.co.jp I used a US credit card and it worked fine. They list payment methods in their help section (on the left side after you click the \"In English\" link: amazon.jp payment methods My problem with them was the shipping costs, which were really too high for me. The...

Re:Mahjong Manga in America
I\'ve bought books through http://amazon.co.jp (there is an \"In English\" button on the top right that lets you navigate the site and place the order in English). It was fast but the shipping was expensive. I use Fujisan.com for getting Kindai Mahjong in the USA. Again there is an English button on...

A higher number is better. I rember I had to play a few games before I got a rating, but I don\'t remember how many that was.

Akagi manga (spoilers)
It\'s not that I don\'t like the Akagi manga, but I wish they would wrap up the Washizu story line already. Now that Washizu is doing the draining blood thing as well I was hoping for an ending. A few months ago he got a ron against Akagi with first turn reach, all pairs, two doras, ippatsu, and two...
