Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

I don\'t think Menzen can be compared to ura-dora and kan-dora. One han per tile is too hugh. And with two combine, a crappy hand can turn to be a yakuman. If you think Menzen+Dora is too much, I think what should be taken off is the Dora not the Menzen. http://www.reachmahjong.com/home/images/fbfil...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

No one could aim for ippatsu, unless they were cheating or have incredible skill to read other players hand and their throw. Menzen can be aim for, using skill. You can\'t expect other to throw into your hand if your wait pretty obvious, especially when playing with high skill players, so you have t...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

Ok, I think you trying to compare between Menzen and Concealed hand + Ron. Between the two, I do agree that which one to get is seem to be about luck. And actually, Ron maybe even harder to get if we play with skill players, thus forced to go for tsumo. However, I do not agree with remove Menzen rew...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

Like I said, I accept that the bulk of this conversation has gone far enough for the time being. Nevertheless, I suspect that these legions of pros and books don\'t really complain about anything at all (as is to be expected) and that this in itself- as you point out- doesn\'t mean much. Not many p...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

5) What is average yaku winning by Menzen and non Menzen (only yaku not han)? Both the same, except Menzen +1 yaku on average (over non Menzen average). Logical. It makes no other difference. They are not the same to me. Not sure if I use \'han\' as a coreect term, but basicly I want to know how ma...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

To think that reward for Menzen is too high or not, I would need answers for following questions first. 1) What is the percentage of the hands going for Menzen (success or not) in Pro games and in Amateur games? 2) What is average number of tiles they been waiting? 3) What is percentage of hands win...

Re:Dealer Continuance

If you play on Mahjong time (current rule), it even worse. The dealer can keep the seat simply have tenpai, no matter who win. No matter which rule, if it not allow player to choose, to give up the east seat, just simply avoid tenpai at the end (make sure you can afford 3000 points). And if no one s...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

If you also want to take out cheat, why keep ippatsu-tsumo? Get ippatsu tsumo too often is even more like cheating than non ippatsu (do I need to explain how it can be done?). And if Menzen is luck, ippatsu-tsumo not even higher luck? Since you say high yaku menzen happen too often, could you provid...

Re:SURVEY: Rules and Variance

I dont like my stat teachers but I do have interent in observing statistic. Would be nice if you can show what you have. I don\'t think Menzen tsumo is all about luck, and I think it is helping an unlucky player to be able to win with a small hand. Going only for a big hand requires better luck and ...

Re:History of Mahjong: Cheating

A player with good skill can increase the chance of getting Menzen tsumo. I do not know how commen it is in your statistic, but it possible that in pro game, it is more difficult to Ron, especially when you already show some of your hand. Thus players forced to tsumo, and by avoiding throwing into s...
