Re: Looking for a new set
Sorry for not being specific enough. I already have experience on Mahjongmart sets - I used to have the "Dragon tile set" but it was so poor quality I had to get rid of it. Tiles were very small, it had a distinct smell similar to thinner which took around a week to air off.. And the paint jobs wer...

Hi Roxo,
Sure, if you come to Hiroshima, get in touch and we\'d welcome you to our Friday night 3-Player session and/or arrange some other games if time permits.
Cheers!

Re:My new (old) Japanese tile-set
And you got 8 spare tiles? Thats a damn lot, i wonder why they put that much in it... (Maybe they played a silly variant with 12 white dragons :D Damn that would mean a whole new yakuman :D ) I like the idea of 12 White Dragons. I guess you could escalate the score even further depending on the hea...

Hi Martin,
If your friend comes to Hiroshima, I\'ll hand him over the goods if you like. We can arrange a Paypal payment without any shipping fees. If he plays mahjong he\'d be welcome to join us for a game on a Friday evening as well!! :-)

Re:My new (old) Japanese tile-set
Hi Bart,
Yep, that\'s bamboo. The porous ends is the key.
What do you think the main part of the tile is made of? Bone? Plastic?

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set
Hi Gg, I took those photos two Fridays ago. Last Friday I spent the whole afternoon playing at my students\' house and then about three hours later went and played in the mahjong parlour. I really noticed - more than ever before - the difference in feel between the tiles. I mean, the difference stru...

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set
Here\'s a view of the backs of the tiles. http://www.reachmahjong.com/home/images/fbfiles/images/3tiles2.jpg As you can see, the purple mechanical table tile lacks the notch - that\'s typical of tiles made for mechanical tables, at least in my experience. The tile closest to the c...

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set
Hi Gg, I took this photos to compare two tiles from two of my mj sets with a tile from a mechanical table in our regular mahjong parlour: http://www.reachmahjong.com/home/images/fbfiles/images/3tiles1.jpg The 7-Bamboo is the machine tile. The 7-Character is from the Japanese Mahjo...

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set
Thanks for the new link. The tiles aren\'t Sango as they don\'t have the \"notch\" on the side.

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set
If I was originally considering going for the Sango set, but wanted to upgrade my junk mat at the same time, would I be perfectly happy with that combo set that you mentioned was similar quality to the sango set? Are there any noticeable differences? The tiles used in the game set reviewed on this ...

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set
@burke Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and fair review. I\'m glad you like the set! @Gg The simple answer is that I don\'t know for certain where the tiles are made because there is seldom any information on the boxes and I get a variety of sets from a variety of sources. My g...
