I\'d never really thought about that, but it sounds reasonable. If you assume more tiles closer to the middle will be incorporated into players\' hands, it\'s better to wait on tiles farther out.

Agreed on discarding the west wind pair. I\'d try to incorporate the dora into my hand with the 6 sou.

You could also shoot for a yao chu hand, I guess, but I\'ve always found those difficult to make.
