Hey everyone,
I\'m just about to fly over to Japan for a 6 week trip. Just wondering if anyone who is in Japan would like to meet up to play some mahjong.
If so email me at gezzar@gmail.com
I\'ll be traveling around most of Japan, so location is probably not a problem.
Ari

Re:How to read discards
good point on the discards
must take a heck of a lot of concentration to remember whether individual discard is from the hand or the draw in live play... much easier in ron2 with the indicator lol (kind of like a cheat, but its hard to tell whether a discard is from the hand or not without it)

Re:Saki and Riichi?
i believe any popular mangas or anime\'s can only be good for the game\'s exposure (particuarly amongst younger people). Perhaps the difference between saki and akagi is that akagi kind of perpetuated the perception that mahjong was played in shady places with yakuza, where as saki is that kind of h...

ranking in ron2
Hi all
just wondering how the ranking in ron 2 works... maybe it would be worth while putting it up with translations on the ron 2 translation (suggestion)
cheers

3-crak
if 4-crak drops you can discard the 6-crak , if a 7-crak drops you can discard the other 3-crak. At least this way you keep the option open for San Shoku Doujun, particularly given that it is relatively early on in the hand as well

Re:WWYD 5/30
probably get rid of the 1-2 side wait (depending on the board situation)
so maybe the 2-dot then 1-dot
so maybe the 2-dot then 1-dot

i hope i\'m still in the uk for this, if I am then I\'d love to play
Re:WWYD 5/23
For the first discard (8-bam): Depends on what the dora tile is and how late in the game. If the dora was a 7-bam I might just throw the 8-bam back in order to get more value (although its a pretty nice hand as it already is worth minimum 5 yaku plus reach and any doras). Also it might be worth thro...
Re:WWYD 5/16
I would rule out discarding the 7bamboo tile. 9 is not altogether safe (dealer discarded it in the first discard, so it is still possible he is waiting for this tile), but it is not so risky as to not warrant going for the win (seeing as you have 2 dora tiles). Also the 7-9 wait isn\'t exactly very ...
Re:WWYD 5/2
Hi, I\'m new here. Only been playing mahjong for a few weeks, but I\'ll give my thoughts. My initial reaction was to drop the 5 Man tile. My thinking for this was that if a 6 Man tile did drop, I\'d just use that for a pair wait. Also 6-7 Sou/1-3 Pin are much closer to that fourth set that we need t...
