Re:WWYD 5/30
hard one... beiing the noob i am, i would probably trow the 7-crak to make 2 sets out of that. open wait on the 1-crak or 4-crak is good IMO. Waiting on the 3-dot is a bit risky, but that wait can be broken up when you should draw a 4-dot or 6-dot, or maybe another 5-dot to wait on a 6-bam or anothe...

Ruro: make a video! My commenting on my playing style also wasnt good, but helpfull people here still managed to help me a lot by giving useable tips, and pointing out what i should watch for. Im sure everyone will have some flaws in their playing style that they dont know about. even the best.. you...

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
good pieces of advice. Its true that i still have to learn to look at the wind tiles. as it is now, i only keep those when i have a pair already. With that pair i hope for a triplet, or a open pon so i can end a game fast if thats needed. I havent looked at the player winds yet. I\'m going to try th...

Re:Requests for More Videos?
i would like to see how the more experienced player lets the dora, round wind and player wind influence his playing style. maybe also when its a good moment to open kan/pon/chi, and when it should be avoided at all cost.

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
ok, my video is on its way. Its uploading now. I noticed that the PCM codec for sound is awefull... i ended with a 10 MB video stream and a 136 MB audio stream (making the total video 146 MB ), which is stupid of course. so i reencoded the audio to mp3, and now i have a nice and small 17 MB video wi...

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
nice video hotelFSR. the only thing that bothered me was the youtube logo that was right in front of the drown tile :P definitely learned something about reads. and strategic waits. But... i need to ask something. at a certain moment, you ditched 2 1-pin tiles, and in the beginning of a game, you di...

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
Tom Sloper: yeah, like i said: tenhou already does that, and you can view every game with a simple link, but a new player will not understand why the experienced player decided to break up a certain wait to go for another one unless you do a hell lot of typing with every link you post. it works the ...

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
Senechal good points, but those only apply when an experienced player makes a video for the unexperienced player to learn from. In case the unexperienced player makes the video, maybe its quite interesting to see that he tries a tanyao every round. People can try to help that person then to avoid th...

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
As you found, the problem is the method. The logistics and the technical details. In general, it turns out to be too cumbersome. More power to you if you figure out one that can gain wide acceptance and support. the method described in the message above (camstudio) is free, the program itself is 1....

Re:game recording for analysis. Good or bad idea?
I found a piece of freeware software that works fine. Its called Camstudio, and you can download it from http://camstudio.org/ I assume you know how to install it after downloading, so i wont go in depth on that. now... to set it up: First make sure you opened your mahjong client of choise. Best not...
