Re: Yakuman Club

Wow cool... i didn't see i had those yaku as well.... awesomeness XD Hmm..... why wouldn't a kazoe yakuman be allowed in some places? is it because it can be relatively "easier" to get one rather than a distinct yakuman hand (like daisuushi, daisangen, kokushi musou, etc)? In some place you are lim...

Forum link

How about a link to the new forum from the front page of the new site?
At least I can't find one atm.

Other than that it looks very nice.

Re:What's the reason on abortive draws?

If you want to end the hand with a chombo to stop a strong hand it\'s always possible, you don\'t need 4 riichis for that. Just declare a false win or \"accidentally\" knock over a large part of the wall or something. As for having a really bad starting hand that doesn\'t fore fill the 9 honors requ...

Re:Yakuman Club

Still no yakuman in real play. Got it a few times against the computer but that doesn\'t really count. Closest was a tempai for a hand that depending on the winning tile and how it was drawn (tsumo/ron) could become either a Suuankou or Daisangen or both or worst case just a baiman. But in the end I...

Re:the Akahai (Red 5 tiles)

They replace existing tiles. The number of red 5s varies between different rulesets. Some have none, some have 2, 3 or 4.

Re:Why isn't this Suu an Kou?

You have to make a distinction between concealed hand and concealed set. When you win on a discard the hand is considered concealed (if the rest of the and is concealed of course) but the set that is completed is considered open for scoring purposes (both han and fu). In the case if Chitoitsu and Ho...

Re:unwinable riichi

As far as I know it\'s only invalid if you are waiting for a tile that doesn\'t exist. Ie you already have 4 of the tile in your hand and are waiting for the 5th. Dead waits are ok. In the anime Saki one of the characters who is know for always doing bad waits intentionally does a dead wait riichi t...

Like you say, it\'s getting a gamble if you go for those other options.
I actually got a Riichi, Ippatsu, Menzen Tsumo, Haitei hand yesterday :)

Re:2-Player Variations

In the Ten - Tenna Toori no Kaidanji manga (same author as Akagi) they play a very strange 2 player mahjong. It uses all tiles. The game is divided into 2 stages. Stage A. A completely normal mahjong game is played but with only 2 players. The stage end once the first player announces that he is in ...

Re:Mahjong at the movies?

In my first post in this thread, I linked to three YouTube videos. What is the name of the Japanese actor pictured on the right in the first video? I\'ve got to know...I\'ve developed a bit of a man-crush on this dude. Gg Not 100% I got the right guy but I think it\'s Shimizu Kentaro 清水健太郎 ...
