Re: Scoring Sticks

Actually I think many in Japan play with 25,000 points. The missing 5,000 is an ante bonus returned to the winner of the game. More about that here:

Re: Yakuman Club

I made my first Yakuman on Friday. It was a Kokushi Musou and I was the Oya. I started with 9 different terminals and honors and an extra 1-pin. Three of the north winds were discarded very early and I had pretty much given up hope of getting the last one when I got lucky on a tsumo. Two of my oppon...

Re:Colossus Mahjong for c64

The resolution of the C64 being so low, I wonder if you can discern the tiles.

If you know how, perhaps you could transfer the tape into some format usable by C64 emulators?

Edit:

Found a screenshot from the game.

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set

This set appears to be thicker and is a mechanical table set: http://www.taiyopl.com/showProDetail.asp?ProID=1849 How might someone obtain one of these sets short of purchasing the table? Sorry, but that image is distorted horizontally. If you open the image directly it shows in the right proportio...

Re:Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set

Nice review, Mattias! Since many of us have zero access to these sets except via images on the internet, it is useful to have reviews of this sort. Thanks! I was inspired by your review of the Take-set. Hopefully other buyers will follow suit. The Junk Mat is an intriguing accessory, but the durabi...

Review of Japanese-Mahjong.com's Game Set

David Hurley (hirohurl on this board) who runs Japanese-Mahjong.com sells a game set consisting of a \"Standard Japanese Mahjong Set\" and JUNK MAT. At the time of writing this set costs $95 plus $75 for shipping via express airmail. I bought one of these sets and thought I\'d share my experience. O...

Re:3-player riichi question

Illustrations are confusing, but right:ohmy: San ren kou is three consecutive koutsu (pon) in the same suit. Iisou san jun is three identical shuntsu (chii) in the same suit. Thanks, but I\'m still confused by the rules. The text for Iisoosanjyun says "The hand contains three similar runs-of-three ...

Re:3-player riichi question

Hi David, I have a couple of questions as well: 1. As described on your website , Sanrenkoh (three identical runs-of-three, all of the same suit) and Iisoosanjyun (the hand contains three similar runs-of-three) seem to be the same thing? The illustrations are even more confusing since they basically...
