Re: how did you learn about mahjong?

I learned about it because I´ve watch Nana, XXX Holic and I´ve played Yakuza 2 (Ryu ga Gotoku 2). When I looked on the web to learn how to play, I found Akagi. Then when I had understood the basics, I found Saki and Legendary gambler Tetsuya.

Re: Jansou 雀荘

Oh, that´s very useful information. I can not calculate the points, At least not right now, I need more practice for that. In fact, as I´ve been always playing mahjong with videogames I didn´t calculate the winning points even once.

Re: Honitsu + round wind?

Asking always solves problems. I´m always asking something here. If you have a Honitsu you can add Yakuhai. Example: Dragons or winds (Seat/Round winds only) + Honitsu. Two yakuhai are added if the wind you possesed is the round and seat wind. A Honitsu is a hand with One suit with honors. In fact, ...

Re: Jansou 雀荘

Now I suck at mahjong, but maybe I should play in a jansou that accept gambling, only to try it. Still I don´t like gambling. For me mahjong is just a table game, no gambling, no smoking (if possible), and so on... It´s an incredibly funny game indeed. The most addicting table game I´ve ever played....

Jansou 雀荘

Maybe I´m stupid for asking, but, how does a jansou operate commonlly?
I don´t like to bet, and I´ve heard in Japan gambling is illegal... That´s why I´m asking because not too many years ago inside the jansou people were gambling.

Re: About the Pao Rule

I seem to recall gaving read that if you are in riichi before the pao situation is created (vg you riichi in turn 7, while a player has Chun, then in turn 9 he calls Haku, and now pao is in place for Daisangen) you are exempt, but if you riichi after the situation exists you are not. However, I don...

Re: About the Pao Rule

Thank you very much for the answers. It seem riichi mahjong has no standard rules as the chinese version has. I mean, Riichi rules has their standard, but a lot of options too... Sometimes gets too confusing, but still is a wonderful game. I lovet it. it and I have a lot to learn about this game. Af...

About the Pao Rule

I´m wondering if the Pao rule is always the same. I´ve read in some places this rule is applied only to Daisangen (Big 3 dragons) and Daishushii (big 4 winds). Other adds too the Sû Kantsu (4 Kan). And there is too The Daiminkan Pao. Exposed Kan made of a concealed Pon and won with a replacement til...

Re:Rinshan Kaihô and the Tsumo Fu

Maybe I´m stupid but when you have multiple waits, how do you count the fu, depends on your winning tile?
Or as multiple waits you earn no fu?
I´ve read the post about the waits, so must be the first option.

Thank you very much!

Re:Rinshan Kaihô and the Tsumo Fu

I think I´ve read wrong what I´ve read. Maybe I get confused because I had´nt found anything in my japanese books about that. it´s Manga de wakaru Mahjong nyumon. Maybe I had´nt found yet.

I´ve rememebered where I´ve seen it in the wiki, saying to obtain those 2 Fu with Rinshan is from old rules.

Rinshan Kaihô and the Tsumo Fu

I´ve read the rules written here in reachmahjong.com and I´ve found that those 2 Fu given for winning with tsumo are not obtained if you obtain a Rinshan Kaihou. But some rules does allow to obtain them, in fact, those rules are becoming incredibly popular... I´m wondering, wich is more popular, to ...
