Site Suggestions

Ah, I\'m not here to make demands or anything, but I think that a few, seemingly simple changes to the site could make coming here a little more convenient for everyone, including new users. They\'re just suggestions, like the subject implies, but forgive me if I come off as rude at some point. Firs...

Re:Some WWYD from Toupaiou! (Part 1)

First post:

Discard the four and go for a double pair wait. Seems better to wait on than a closed wait.

Second post:

Discard the one bamboo. It\'s far too dangerous to keep around in the late game, and it appears to be dead weight in the hand anyways. Might as well.

Re:What do you guys do with your flowers/other fives?

Oh, we\'ve had this conversation quite often. I\'m always met with a \"Oh, whoops. I forgot.\" and a smirk which tells me that in reality, they haven\'t forgotten at all. Which is why I am suspicious of them. Friends. You can\'t live with them, and you can\'t throw them down a well. There really oug...

Re:What do you guys do with your flowers/other fives?

I turn them the other way in the tray See, that\'s what I\'ve been doing too, and this wouldn\'t be a problem, except I play with some of the most impatient people I know. As SOON as the tiles touch the table, they start shuffling them, which means unless I decide to set up half an hour in advance,...

Re:Washizu Mahjong

Wow, I\'m impressed with those tiles. They did a really good job. I thought even though the tiles were transparent, I\'d have difficulty seeing what the other people had like in the anime. But even in the shot where the tiles were far away, I was able to perfectly see the hand. Those are high qualit...

What do you guys do with your flowers/other fives?

It\'s kinda annoying to sift through all those tiles to find the extra fives and season tiles. What do you guys do with them?

I\'m thinking about taping them to the bottom of the case so I\'ll never have to worry about them again, while maintaining status quo on the space in the case.

Oh, you\'re right. My bad. But in my defense, it was a little unclear.

Um, I\'m about 101% sure you can\'t combine Chiitoitsu with any run based hand like Iipeikou or Ryanpeikou. . .

Re:Teaching Reach Mahjong to Beginners

I\'m teaching it like you guys are. Tell them how to play, don\'t include the yaku, until they are comfortable with it enough to start to slowly play with the 1 han minimum requirement, then I hand out a sheet with all the hands on it, and they figure it out on their own pretty quickly. Also, I leav...

What?

During South round, the dealer always repeats when a Draw Hand occurs. Add a repeat stick and repeat the dealer.
Taken from Ryan Morris\'s page.

I didn\'t want to bother him with an Email, so I\'ll ask you guys.

Is this true?

Re:Do You Believe in

Maybe. I mean, you\'re right, I have seen them play very few games of chance. It could just be that they haven\'t played enough to really lose a lot either. But then again, I haven\'t been them, I haven\'t seen the things that they do when I\'m not around. So who knows? And then there\'s the subcons...

Re:Do You Believe in

HotelFSR: I was actually referring to luck in general. Not just for playing games. People catch lucky breaks all the time, while some people just never seem to get out of a slump. But, I suppose that\'s neither here nor now. But the point is, I wasn\'t referring to cartoon characters when I said I b...

Re:Do You Believe in

Holy moly! I am shocked that so many people believe in this!! Any concept of nagare is more easily explained as bias in your own thinking- you will naturally notice when you win several times in a row, or lose many time in a row. This does not mean that there is some unseen tide. Basic math will ex...

Re:Can someone tell me about the Junk mat?

Oooh, okay, I see it. They fit all the way in, right?

Also, while I\'m at it, two last questions.

How big are the counter trays for storing your score sticks?

And if they have pockets for the trays, do they have a space for the dice and sticks?
