Re: Looking for a set

I think the two different sets that RM.com stocks has a few mm difference between them. They do have significantly different weights. Also, the more expensive set has a red five with a plastic jewel that is not to everyone's liking. I'm at work now but I can give you some more details later today.

Re: Tenhou Rankings and Advancement

Hey, I think you should be able to upgrade your account on this URL: http://tenhou.net/reg/ You get to have a premium account for either a certain number of days or to a certain level, I forget which. They allege to accept Mastercard and Visa. I doubt that they'll accept paypal. If you're asked for ...

Re: A decision to all of you.

Hi Luis, Thank you so much for posting on here. It made me so happy to read your post! Time management has never been my strong point. If only we could have an extra four hours each day, everything would be so much easier! ;) Thank you so very much for offering to contribute your work for us to put ...

Re: Let's Start Again

Sweet worked out how to adjust the forums. I don't even know how I got to that control panel but I did! Gonna move some other stuff around later but fixed some of the glaring problems...

(Apart from the "pro's" typo. That one has been irritating me for a while now.)

Re: Let's Start Again

I just spent 30 mins trying to figure out how to delete some of our superfluous forums. If you can find a way Shirluban, you are a total star!

WWYD 26 July 2010

For this WWYD, I'm going to direct you to the JMPL's site. http://ma-jan.or.jp/jan-up/nanikiru1007a.php I don't want to put the full thing here as we haven't got permission (I've asked for it so we're just waiting now...) BUT, I don't see any harm this once in translating some of the answers of the ...

Let's Start Again

It has not gone unnoticed that there has been a certain degree of aggro happening on the forums. Usually I hope that things will cool down without my intervention as usually my participation escalates problems. However, after the thread "Let's Try Something Radically New" I suddenly got a string of ...

Re: Where to Get Mah Jong Mats

If you go to a fabric shop and ask for "table protectors", that's usually made of a foamy material on one side. I used to use that before I got meself a mat.

Re: Best translation software?

Just had a thought, you could try putting in some of the examples Bart mentioned above through a Chinese-English translator. You might get something a little more comprehensible. But you still couldn't get your full sentences...

Re: Best translation software?

Hehe yeah I'd help out as long as we are staying within copyright. (I loved the days when I was a fansubber and copyright happened to other people ;) ) I'm actually reading a Japanese strategy book at the mo and I was thinking I should summarize some of his theories... Maybe now I've verbalized it, ...

Re: Best translation software?

Hey, Computer Assisted Translation Tools could help you? Some of them are free or at least free for small documents. If you fed it some sample sentences like the one above in both Japanese and English and then created a termbase of Mahjong terms, you'll find that the tool will be able to suggest som...

Re: meetups - why sunday?

Hey all, I've been slogging away in Germany working hard to earn the pennies which is why the tournaments sort of died (especially after some late nights for me where people didn't turn up...) ANYWAY, I will restart them this week. But the real question is when suits you all? I'm on CET and I have a...

Re: Podcasts are back!

Hey hey, Sorry for the delay peeps.

Are the links working now? They do go up on iTunes so you can subscribe there - It may be easier.

We don't do transcripts because they're not scripted. But maybe something can be worked out. I'll ask the tech dude!
