Re: My HANAFUDA Sets (3)
I also have Japanese hanafuda, from Nintendo. I have tried making up a few games using these cards, including solitaire game.

In Akagi DS Washizu Mahjong, I once made twenty-three continuances (I was being East).Referee wrote:Also, there's NINETEEN continuances!

Re: One rule I played on computer.
I think Ding Dong is like a mid-game Charleston but you exchange only one tile with each of your opponents. I'm quite happy playing without that sort of rule. True. I, too, like to play Japanese mahjong without this rule. But I was trying to make up completely different rules using the limits of th...

One rule I played on computer.
This is according to "4 Winds" program. (Some options cannot be changed) Each player starts 0 points (and is allowed to be negative). Game is 4 rounds of each wind East South West North. During north round, there is three tiles charleston when tiles are dealt at the beginning of the hand. In case of...

Re: How many akapai do you use?
When using akapai I will use two of red 5-pin and one of red 5-sou and one of red 5-man. However I do not always use them.

Re: Today's WWYD
I would probably try to make tanyao by throwing 1pin, and then 9sou unless I need to change (in which case you can make dora more likely but then possibly lose 1 yaku). After that, 2pin can be discarded (unless you make 2pin the end pair, which can also do since you complete 34 with 2 or 5 which can...

Re: WWYD for Aug 3, 2011
Get rid of the tile just picked up, unless you think someone else needs it (although also note nobody call riichi yet). You can make dora 4 and are already about to make 789 of each suit, and the end pair can be 4pin. However it might be late and you might not have time to win (also especially since...

Re: WWYD for Aug 10th
3sou. Now you have 55667 so you might make iipeikou or the 456 sequence, and you can make tanyao (keeping 3sou would, in addition to making other things more difficult, make a sequence 123 which is not tanyao), akadora, possibly riichi, you might get 5man or 8man for sequence and then discard 2sou t...

Re: Some exotic rule options
I agree, it would be nice to adjust chip values (possibly, individually for each of the rules that you earn these bonus chips)Barticle wrote:I think it would be nice to be able to adjust the chip value since 5k is a lot and they're generally rewarding luck rather than skill.

Re: Some exotic rule options
There is a lot of options. Some of which I have seen and some I have never seen before. A few of them are ideas I have thought of in the past but have never seen. Most aren't. Too bad it does not have red fives! Toriuchi is certainly really strange one. I would like to be able to set Tsumo Ippatsu a...

Re: Discussion regarding rule sets based around Riichi and M
I think Zung Jung is not bad rules. Japanese Riichi rules also not bad. MCR is horrible in my opinion, it has a lot of stupid things in it. Of course regardless what you play, you can play variants, such as Washizu Mahjong (including or not including teams, including or not including hit points), or...

I know that in Akagi DS, Ippatsu does not count towards Ryanhan Shibari. I suppose they are different variant rules sometimes used in some places.

Re: Washizu Tournament
I can describe the exact "Akagi DS" style. No money and blood is needed, you just need to keep track of hit-points of each team. Each team starts with a number of hit-points and then they can decrease, but never increase. If one team's hit-points goes to zero (or negative), then the match is immedia...
