Re:It's time for What Would You Discard! (July 11th)
It all depends in this case on how I feel! 1. If it\'s early in the hand and I\'m drunk &/or tired &/or lazy, then just keep flipping out those single tiles and hope for a quick Tempai on 7-Pairs, ideally with the 6-Characters happily married to its mate! 2. Otherwise, I\'d get rid of the North tile...

Re:Mahjong set + table
Hi folks,
I occasionally get asked about mj tables. I have heard that Hawaii is the place to look, and anywhere else where there is a strong Japanese nisei presence in the USA.

Re: Saki MJ Sets...
Okay, a bit more info... The set I linked to earlier is the \"Version 2.0\" set that goes for around $100 on Amazon.co.jp. There is one 1.5 version available second hand on Amazon for approximately $600 ... AND (get this), a 1.5 set sold on Yahoo auctions for $1,000 - check this link: http://page7.a...

Re:
I\'m a Saki fan, sooo I\'m interested. Is it limited edition? Also, if I were to purchase it how much would it cost in total, Canadian? Your site seems to be down at the moment, sadly. Both my Japanese games sites are back up - I was moving them to a new webhost. A few graphics have gone AWOL, but ...

Re:Hikari Sparkling Diamond Tile...
Those choco tiles look tasty. Any ideas about playing mj with choco tiles...? The latest trend... a \"Saki\" mahjong set with cute \"Saki-chan\" animation characters all over it, and of course, cute pink tile backs! "Saki" Anime Character Mahjong Set...
Barticle was asking about new trends on another thread and this morning I received an enquiry about this set, which will be released on 25th August... The theme of the set is \"Saki-chan\" the animation character. Any Saki fans around here? The set looks like a lotta fun. Here are the 5-Coins: http:...

Re:Hikari Sparkling Diamond Tile...
Well, it turns out that this set is no longer available.
What happens, I think, is that the manufacturers change designs every so often to stimulate sales or refresh the market. Right now the sparkling diamond is old hat!

Re:Hikari Sparkling Diamond Tile...
Hi Barticle,
Thanks for trying to find out some more info.
In my case I think this kind of tile is ideal for party-mahjong where you throw in a couple of \"house rules\" to add some spice to the game and slightly favour luck over skill, just to add to the fun.

Re:Hikari Sparkling Diamond Tile...
Hi Robert,
Thanks. I\'ve never played with Jokers in that case. I\'ve heard the term \"Joker\" used in American mj, but have never played American mj or mj in America. Are Jokers used in any Japanese mj games, or are they an option in online Japanese mj games?

Re:handling of tiles
What happens if someone screams that there are fewer than 136 tiles visible? Every cheating technique runs a risk of discovery. What happens if someone notices the tile-switch manouvres? What happens depends on a lot of factors - your reputation, the fear/awe you inspire (or fail to), whose territo...

Re:Hikari Sparkling Diamond Tile...
Hi Tom, Thanks for the link. Yes, it is a similar design. I suggested that it could be used as a Red 5-Coin with a double bonus. As a Joker, would you set it to one side and draw a tile from the back of the wall, and count it as an extra \"yaku\" when scoring (as we do in the 3-player game with the ...

Okay, here are a couple to start us off... 1. Turning over the mekuripai (and the rest of the wall, sort of): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ju4jEX9xlns 2. How to build a wall with good style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XShAJNwSyRU Now we get into a few tricks and deeply bad techniques. 3 & 4. H...

Hikari Sparkling Diamond Tile...
Can anybody help me with a question from one of my customers about one of the sets I sell...? It is a \"Hikari\" set, and its special feature is that one of the \"Red Fives\" has been replaced by a \"Sparkling Diamond\" tile. Question: How would you use this in play? Would you replace a 5-Coin with ...
