Re: My new desktop is quite sexy
That is my thought too when I saw the picture.Barticle wrote:The combination of tiles and cards is a little odd, but it gives a novel "East meets West" vibe. It sets my curious mind wondering if it might be possible to play a game using both together... Hmmm.

Re: Yakuman Club
If you translate the list, I would like to see these things:
- Keep the Japanese text and put English in parentheses, perhaps.
- Furigana (in ACRONYM tag?)
- Add more options.
- Mark which options are the common ones.

Re: Wareme Rule
I have another idea about a variant of wareme rule: The wareme is advanced by one position every time any player calls chii, pon, kan, or riichi. So if East is wareme, and North calls riichi, then South is now wareme instead. (You can't keep track of it as easily by where the wall is cracked. If you...

Re: Riichi vs. Zung Jung
He has an issue with any minimum score. If the minimum is high (as in Hong Kong, WMFed, or even perhaps MCR), the game can become boring and there will be more drawn hands (MCR gets around that by adding a bunch more ways to score). If the minimum is low (as in riichi), I think he feels that the mi...

Wareme Rule
I was playing a computer mahjong game it allows you change some rule settings, one is wareme, I enabled it to figure out how it works and stuff. How it works is: After throwing the dice, count the seats counting East as 1, South as 2, and so on, whichever the total of the dice is, that player is war...

Re: WWYD 26 July 2010
I would probably discard 9man to make tanyao, with 8man as a pair and dora 1 and possibly sanshoku 567, possibly 444sou or 234sou and 4pin can be discarded later. If it is 234sou I might also be having pinfu later if no chii/pon will be called. Does kuitan ari/nashi in this game? (I always play kuit...

Re: Best translation software?
It takes me a long time, although some things it is possible to figure out by context and if you have known those things from before, but by more practice it can be done more faster. I am not confident in the translation (I do not currently have time). Usually I do this for much shorter words and se...

Re: Best translation software?
I just prefer do it manually by searching the words that I don't know in WWWJDIC and in other mahjong information files.

Re: Washizu Strategy Game
In addition, the higher scoring rule is actually relevant here, since it happens when you deal into the dummy hand of your own team (you might do to prevent the opponent from winning if they have a high chance of winning or if you have no safe tiles, although sometimes you can prove which tiles are ...

No, but it exists anyways. Any admin here can do with it what they like. (To change the topic message requires you to notify me because topic messages for + type channels must be stored in the configuration file, and I am the only person who has any access to that file). I probably should have cont...

Camera phones are often useless for anything other than whiteboards, and sometimes useless for that, too. DSi camera is even worse.

Re: Table Comments, Opinions, Praise
...the tiles have a problem with tiles that are blank on both side... I've never noticed a real problem with the blank tiles. Only time I've ever had a problem of any sort with them is trying to turn all the tiles face up and flipping the white dragon tile a few times as I go... but really, when do...

Re: Table Comments, Opinions, Praise
The table is not bad, but the tiles have a problem with tiles that are blank on both side. (I have the same tiles but white, and the white tiles has same problem. It is better if the back is different color from the front so you can tell it apart; blue or pink should be used for magnetic tiles, and ...

Re: Reach Mahjong now has IRC Channel
Did you try talking to an admin about this? By your post, it sounds like you didn't. It's rude to assume that your initiative will be supported post-facto just by plugging the name of the forum to an idea you had. No, but it exists anyways. Any admin here can do with it what they like. (To change t...
