Re:Making Mahjong Card Game
Nice coin image, but I wonder if it would look better in the natural metallic colour (bronze?) especially where the traditional tile designs have two or three different colours...?

Yeah, they wouldn´t count as a chow.Tom Sloper wrote:Words are all food? So I couldn\'t make DOG or GOD in the red suit?
Press the red lightbulb button or scroll down the page for the lists of valid words.
I wonder if you make a fourteen-letter food word you get a yakuman?!

Re:Played at Machao in Shinjuku!
Okay, cool. Thanks.
I´ve heard about the address system in Japan (or lack of) - buildings numbered chronologically etc!
Also Tokyo´s spiralled street layout which was specifically designed to dumbfound invaders!
I love maps so I´d buy a good one.

Hi shuurai, and welcome to the forums. :)
What a strange game! It´s a bit slow but the animations and control interface are nice.
I had a PIE chow on my first draw. heh!
(the words are all food - so it´s literally \"chow\" in the American sense!)

Re:Played at Machao in Shinjuku!
No, just tenpai. Doh! Still pretty cool though. My japanese is reasonably good, having studied 2 years intensive (daily in university) and lived in tokyo for 6 months in the past. I\'m not sure the jansou experience would be possible without japanese speaking skills. I don´t have any illusions abou...

Re:Mahjong Fight Club ...... English Guide
I assumed it was something like that. Hey, I made my second yakuman in the game! It was only five quarter-games after the last one. Yesterday morning I thought I´d have a quick game before I started work on translating the stats screens. There was a random double-orb bonus which meant that I...

Re:Played at Machao in Shinjuku!
I thought we hadn´t heard from you for a while! Sounds like a great trip. (did you actually complete the yakuman?) The speed of play sounds scarily fast! How good is your Japanese reading and spoken vocab BTW? I´d be interested to hear how you managed both at the jansou and in generally gett...

Really? In the PS3 version Garthe has an untucked shirt and ripped jeans!Tom Sloper wrote:You play against well dressed Japanese folk, and Jenn and Garthe (also well dressed).
It´s a good look though. B)

Just a couple of minor points... In play command buttons: Red ......... Katakana / Command button (click on for commands like convert 4 drawn tiles to kong etc) I think this could be listed simply as "Command button". The button text is ko-ma-n-do - just the English word transliterated into Japanese...

Re:Mahjong Fight Club ...... English Guide
Here\'s my best attempt at the options screens. Also, I\'ll bold the default option. Excellent list, as always! Page 1: (unknown kanji) They say Sousa which means "operation". Actually, if I\'m not mistaken, a kan would disqualify Chiihou, Oh yeah... chii/pon/kan disallow Chiihou just like they do ...

Re:New mahjong guides online (rules / kanji / PS3)
PS I´ve just started writing a guide for Mahjong Fight Club (PS3 version) but from past experience it could take a few weeks or months... Stay tuned! I am also collecting (with the aid of Poochy) instructions for MFC [...] You may find this a useful starting point. Hey Ian. Thanks for thinking of m...

Re:Mahjong Fight Club ...... English Guide
I am making a start on the options ... I recognise several of the options (I´ve translated all mine) but of course I won´t know all the settings available so I´ll leave this for Poochy and then chime in afterwards as usual. :) For the observant, the screen shots I pulled the rom into an emulator to...

End on bust (if set to Ari, the game will end by buttobi if one or more players have a 0 or negative score at the end of a hand): Ari / Nashi Ohhh! So essentially it´s Dobon! This was the one rule which I didn´t understand. It´s given in hiragana as "Buttobi" in the PS3 version but I had no idea wh...

Re:Mahjong Video Games -
For example, in Ryu Ga Gotoku it\'s not hard to consistently come first about 80% of the time- even on the hardest tables! Yeah, I built up something like 3 million points in Kenzan. :) I didn´t cash them in, but they would make a handy reserve if I ran out of money. It does make for a less hostile...
