Re: Activity

I'm seeing very little activity on the website this year. As a newcomer to the website and forums, is there any activity being done anymore? Has Jenn and Garthe left the site? Are podcasts still being done? The podcast has seen a bit of podfade over the years. It is not unusual to have a few months...

Re: Mahjong pet peeves

My wife Jenn had a Riichi mini-meltdown last night. Playing JanRyuMon HD Mobile and another player was declared as being Tenpai but was nowhere near having the 1 required Yaku scoring element. Because their hand was still 1 tile away from 'ready' (again, a theoretical ready as the game wouldn't have...

DS Fight Club Crib Sheet

In case this is of interest to anyone... I tend to make up these little 1 page crib sheets so I can navigate the main areas of any Japanese video game I have. I try to keep it to a single page - sized slightly inside of the normal margins so I can trim and fold this to fit neatly into CD cases or DS...

Re: Question

Where does one get a set of mahjong tiles like this? I'm specifically looking for those kind of backs. I've had good luck scouring ebay - people have bought sets for more than a century now and many list those sets for sale for a reasonable price. I just got a nice 1955 Japanese bone and bamboo set...

Mini-Review of Unreal Mahjong Revision 2 Trial (東方幻想麻雀)

After the response to my last Mini-Review I'm hesitant to post another. This game seems to have no obvious ero-elements and is only moderately pastel. :D https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45934553/pics/umtrial0.jpg Publisher: D.N.A. Re: Let's Start Again

Perhaps in some cases it's simply that the boards don't have enough activity (and so we lose users and the problem gets worse). I just wonder if there's anything we can do, perhaps even simply making the effort to post more - sharing information and pictures, asking questions and starting discussio...

Re: RM.com Forum Maintenence

Oups! I was pruning the 347 inactive users (i.e. users who have never fully completed the registration process) who coincidentally joined between "when re-captcha was put here" and "when the custom field was set up", and I've accidentally deleted 6 inactive users who joined more recently. I apology...

Re: Newbie introduction

Big welcome to the new folks! Despite it's name, this thread is more than just for Newbies. This is our awesome community (and I'd rather it have been titled 'Community Introduction' thread) so even if you're a veteran of the forums, you're welcome to put up an introduction.

Re: Mini-Review of K-Ten (Keiten / けい☆てん)

I'm not sure, but you may want to re-watch their video at 00:36, 00:39, 01:02 and 01:10 I think we have different definitions of erotic. The fully clothed boobs hovering over the table happens in the video for roughly 2 seconds and shows up in the game for even less time - as opposed to Nodoka's br...

Re: Mini-Review of K-Ten (Keiten / けい☆てん)

This game is, as far as i´ve read about it in japanese it´s an erogame, a japanese erotic game. I don't think that it is. There is no hint of anything sexual or erotic in any way in the game. I'll admit I haven't gone into the story much (about 20% through), but it seems far more benign than even t...

Re: Help learn Japanese terms

Japanese, unlike Chinese, has a short list of sounds, and as it's been said, the same thing is always pronounced the same way... almost. Having watched a lot of Mahjong anime, movies, pro TV competitions and lots of video games I can say that I've heard Riichi pronounced several distinct ways. My f...

Mini-Review of K-Ten (Keiten / けい☆てん)

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/45934553/kten0.jpg I've been playing quite a bit of K-Ten (though that's the publisher name and I think the actual name of the game is Keiten or, more properly: けい☆てん). It's a sea of colorful pastels - almost sickly so but that doesn't bother me. It reminds me heavily of Sa...

Re: Help learn Japanese terms

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh0brmqq4sk This guy made an excellent tutorial to mahjong. While y'may know how to play -- he has gone through various terms in Japanese. Especially, there's a separate video on the Yaku. These 4 videos were extremely helpful in learning the words and pronunciations....

Re: EMA rules question

1. Yes, 7 pairs can also yield other han points (all one suit, double run, etc). Er... 7 pairs does not stack with double run(ippeikou) or ryanpeikou. A tile cannot be considered to be part of a pair/pon AND part of a chi. (interpreting 7 pairs as having ippeikou leaves you with an invalid hand any...
