Re:Played at Machao in Shinjuku!
They were about to let me play when the manager pretty much kicked me out. He seemed to have a hard time believing I could play and kept saying how is parlor was not a mahjong classroom. Which Zoo was that? I will have words with them. That is ridiculous ;) Did you send me an e-mail and I missed th...

Re:14 Tile Dead Wall? ---- Rule Clarification Please
I will double-check on Tenhou, but as far as I know, in Japan ALL games leave 14 tiles at the end of the game no matter how many quads were declared. This does not mean the live wall is reduced, because once the supplementary tiles are drawn from the wall for Quads/kan, those tiles are considered li...

\"houra todome\" - so \"winning-hand finishing-blow\"...? This is read \"agari-yame\" in Japanese (^.^)v Japanese Kanji is freakin\' confusing.:S haha. The \"houra\" is actually the Japanese version of the Chinese reading of the kanjis wa and ryou and the todome/yame kanji can be read as \"Yame,\" ...

Re:Hey hey just a shout out. & 'kyushukyuhai'
just 9? i thought there was some other bit about non connecting sets or something like that. I think you\'re thinking of the "13 Towers" (jyuu-san putou) or something like that. That\'s actually a winning hand, still exists in the CO rules, but in the Riichi rules it has to be on the deal and it is...

Re:Misspellings in mahjong docs
That\'s why I like using English in English (><)
There are too many ways to spell Katakana. Most of these words are originally Chinese anyway.
Even Japanese names can be spelled so many ways:
大原 = Ohara*, Oohara, Ohhara
pronounced differently than
小原 = Ohara
*passport spelling

deJENNerate: [quote] since there is now \"agari-yame\" (ending the game when you\'re in 1st place as the last dealer). Ahhhhh! This is supposed to be \"Since there is NOT \"agari-yame\"\" We don\'t use it in JPML tournaments. Also, most tournaments are timed, so Last Dealer is not usually advantage...

Re:East Only Games
Last dealer is the best seat, not the worst! For East Rounds this might not always be true since depending on the rules there are a lot of "tobi" (busting out). On the other hand, especially in the JPML tournament rules and most tournaments, it can be tough to be the final dealer since there is now...

Re:Setokuma likes two things I hate
For players in love with "ron", are there house rules which double or triple the value of a "ron" as opposed to the corresponding "tsumo"? In Reach/Riichi, "tsumo" only doubles the score if it\'s completely concealed, and even then the Base Points (fu) are usually lower, so it\'s not exactly double...
