Damn, I didn\'t get the e-mail saying someone had replied. I\'m sorry about this. How about next Sunday? Or, really, any evening this week?

I wonder if sevenup runs the site he linked to. Perhaps it\'s also possible he wrote the japanese wikipedia article too? :)

You mean this, don\'t you: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%AB%98%E7%82%B9%E6%B3%95#.E9.AB.98.E7.82.B9.E6.B3.95 I don\'t remember seeing \"kou ten hou\" in any group\'s mahjong rules, but I think it\'s pretty much standard practice. I do think it\'s a good idea to append to EMA\'s rules. EDIT--Sorry...

It looks like money games aren\'t set up yet but I guess we can try a free game. I\'m in a very different time zone from you guys though, any suggestions for times over the next 72 hours?

Who Else is In Japan?
Who else on this board lives in Japan? Back in 2005 when I started playing there were about 4 Western players in Tokyo and we all knew each other. Now, thanks to sites like this and things like Akagi the number of non-Japanese who can play has skyrocketed and I wonder if there are other people in th...

Re:Riichi/MCR Mahjong & the Nintendo DS
If you can read Japanese, I recommend a title called \"puro ni naru ma-jan.\" It was one of the first DS mahjong games and it has several training modes including about a dozen stored games with commentary.

How about local residential colleges that have anime/Japanese culture clubs? That seems to be how most people get into the game.

Lucktile Mahjong Server
For those of you who can read Japanese: I\'ve found a new Mahjong server called \"Luckytile.\" I\'m interested in trying it out, but since its still in its early stages there are not many (any?) players. If anyone\'s curious to try it out and succeeds in getting into a table, can you tell me what it...

Re:When, exactly, is the new dora shown on a kan?
The Japanese Wikipedia actually makes a mention of this - there are two common methods, depending on the house rules: 1. Kan-dora is revealed before the discard, no matter what. 2. Kan-dora is revealed before the discard for a closed kan; revealed after the discard for an open kan. I find this to g...
