8-crak

Creates a 2-sided double closed waits among the man tiles, and still retain the ability to produce a pinfu hand - unless the 4-sou is drawn.

Re: About Kandora

Aside from calling Kans - I cannot imagine any other way to access Kan-dora; hence the name.   Oh. As in, when the kan-dora gets flipped. I have a feeling: with live-tiles, we do it the wrong way as we simply flip the kan-dora immediately after a kan regardless. However, if I rec...

Probably referring to a different "Kyuu". There are so many of us. I use KyuuA4 as a login name there. Plus, I barely log in there.

Re: WWYD 2012/05/02

2-dot Most outside tile on a hand with plenty of tiles in the "middle". Plus, it'll be easier to retain pinfu. Seeing 2-man and 3-man in the discard -- that kills any notion of attempting san-shoku around that. So, gotta focus elsewhere. Can potentially do a 33-44-55 or 44-55-66 Iipeiko, while pairi...

Re: how did you learn about mahjong?

I watched Saki, not knowing a clue as to what was going on gamewise.

Then an online buddy pointed me to Saikyo 3D Mahjong.

The rest is history.

Re: Anime Central

Mahjong-wise. Anime Central has been a great experience. I had gone a total of 7-8 times to Anime Central, by which I had skipped the past 2 years. It was under the assumption of never going back. But alas, this game of mahjong pulled me right back into the convention. Why? Because it's the best pla...

Agree. First the 4-dot ... then the 6-dot eventually, assuming either a 3-dot or 3-bam come via draw or from West seat. It's very early this hand anyways.

Re: Jan Ryu Mon

Is it me... or is YouTube laced with like videos of... Yakuman, freak hands, freak situation, etc. from Jan Ryu Mon?

By which... this is leading me the impression that this software is rigged to produce big hands more often.

Re: FINALLY!!! Found and bought an automatic Mahjong table!

I was one of the 3 guys from Chicago - who came up to Anime Milwaukee back in February. We had the junk mat setup in the game room on the Saturday that weekend. And I meant "Compact" as something that can be carried off into a car (with foldable back seats)... and lug the auto table places, relative...

Re: FINALLY!!! Found and bought an automatic Mahjong table!

That thing looks "short". Is it a "compact" type?

If it is - I'd so go for that one - for the purpose of easy transporting.

EDIT:

"Dr. Andrew"... from Wisconsin, I presume?

Re: FINALLY!!! Found and bought an automatic Mahjong table!

Yea. Known about Versatile Machinery. Now, I have to ask: can the machines use riichi standard sized tiles? And I mean, there're ridiculously small compared to Chinese sets. Username:Torgo linked an eBay notice for an auto table, which the seller put the start price at $400. However, the tile sizes ...
