In order to clean up of the user list, unused accounts will be deleted:
1) I will delete all users who never logged in, never posted, and registered before 01/01/2011.
They are obviously not "real users" of this forum.
That should remove almost half of the current user list.
It's scheduled for this week-end.
2) In a second time, later, we'll remove users who never posted and haven't logged in since months.
It's not planed yet, and the exact action will be re-think after seeing step 1 results.
In any case, if you have never posted, your account may be deleted.
To be sure you will keep your account, please post at least once. For example by replying "I'm alive" in this topic.

Awesome! Thanks so much Shirluban!
I can look at some too. It will be great to have some real numbers too. A lot of these names were spam users carried over from the old forums on our fireboard forum.

For step 2, I think about removing all users
who never posted and haven't logged in since 2010-06-01.
That means 80-85% of the current user list, including
Gem and
garthe (that's not their actual accounts, but likely test account not used since 2008).
And step 3 will be removing all these banned spammers account.
I've noticed spammers don't even wait for an account to be banned to create a new one anyway.

Done.
Step 2 brought the user list down from 1733 to 391 (so it removed 77%).
Step 3 brought it to 315.
But there is still a lot of spam accounts, hopefully not posting.
So I guess step 4 will be to check profiles' website's link and delete users who don't comply with the registration terms (to not say ad for porn).

What does that mean?
I've kept tract of every usernames I've deleted, and "Apenjafe" is not one of them.
By the way this user account is typical of spam, especially its website link.
Epic spam bot post or I'm a douche-bag?

IMHO, a little bit of a, a little bit of b.
Maybe not necessarily a bot, but a human getting paid to advertise and preserve his account?

Step 4 is done.
The number of writers who have insterst in sports/cars/moto (and dating) is amazing.
But not as amazing as the number of <country #4> people living almost anywere except in <country #4>.
The user list had gone down from 319 to 261.
So the overall cleaning had removed 91.6% of the user list from its start!
