One small suggestion I'd have is to have an introduction forum or perhaps just a pinned introduction thread where new forum members can introduce themselves. I moderate a game related forum and these sorts of introductory threads are always a good place for newbies to get their feet wet and at least post a little about themselves. Longer-standing members of the community usually are quite welcoming (and I have no doubt that would be the case here).

I'm not sure an introduction forum/thread is needed, since most users don't even fill their profile info.
Anyway, I'll open a poll later today to get other users' opinions.

If anyone have any suggestion about introduction and/or profile info, please tell us about it before I create the poll. (I can't change a poll options after it's started, at least not without destroying the votes.)
