Registration SNUFU

Howdy all,

I didn't see a link to report issues, so this seems the best fit for posting this... if not, feel free to delete or move as appropriate.

I tried to buy some items using the store... and of course I had to register first, which I did... but a couple of things happened...

The store accepted the registration, but PayPal said they couldn't process anything from this vendor, so the purchase didn't go through.

Also, the registration activated at what appears to be the old forum, because the confirmation email had a link to go to the forum... but it takes you to the inactive forum and it's last post there is from May 2010 and says "In one hour the ReachMahjong.com forums will go down so that we can switch over to the new system." So the store is still tied to that old forum.... AND I was able to successfully login at the old forum. :o

I was able to find my way back to the new forum... but I wasn't registered here and had to re-register here again.

Lastly... if you Google for "reach mahjong forum" (which is what I did looking for this forum)... the very first link available takes you to the old forum as well.

I thought this would be helpful feedback. I'm guessing you loose a lot of traffic and business which gets redirected to the old inactive forum. Since search engines can still find the old forum, it may be necessary to take the old forum offline altogether... especially since it appears the old forum is still capable of accepting new registrations and logins, which might be capturing some of your potential traffic in a dead-end.

I hope that helps!

Well, I'm glad I got on here successfully... I s'pose I'll take a look around ^.^

Hi Scott. Welcome to the (new!) forums - nice to have another author here.

Sorry to hear you've had trouble with the store - hopefully Jenn or someone will get back to you soon.

Similar points have been made in the past about the old forums (as recently as September).

Welcome and sorry for your troubles.
I've reported it to Jenn and Gemma, so it may be fixed.

I've also created a topic to report problems, so now the "bug list" won't be scattered everywhere!

It's a site problem, so it belongs to the "reachmahjong.com" section, IMO. I'll move it.

Looks like the old forum's posts have been deleted recently. Did you miss the spam-bot zoo?

PS: What does "SNUFU" means?

I suppose SNUFU could mean "situation normal: you fouled up" (swapping the letter "u" for the word "you," the word "you" for "all" and "fouled" for the more common word associated with the phrase).

Ah. Then the title should have a "[sic]" on it.

(sic), along the lines of "spelling is intentional."

Gah! That's like what my editor said!
