pairon.jp requires you to download a HUGE client (over 700 megabytes) and the game itself runs slow as molasses, and sometimes the buttons don\'t work. A nightmare.

Toupaiou question: Whenever I play on Toupaiou, it starts playing some really annoying background music. How do you turn that off?

You have to (while playing game) klik on 3rd button from left (its options)and on right of new window that will appear you will see BGM (written normally) that you have to uncheck. Thats all

There is a new online mahjong game out! The only problem that i can\'t connect to the site (it\'s not japanese only i checked from a different proxy it\'s just awfully configured i guess) It\'s name is JanRyuMon and the graphics look impressive (it looks like the arcade only MJ4). Anyone tried it yet?
EDIT:first it didn\'t let me link the youtube video but it now seems to work :P

that looks impressive! i think it will require a hefty client though, but the graphics, and the motions are sweet.
i have the same connecting problem to the site by the way. lets hope is temporary, i want to try it out :)
EDIT: after some searching, it seems that they use an IP block for non japanese IPs (some IPs are not blocked though... consider yourself lucky if you can connect). You can acces the site with an open japanese proxy, but for the client, there is also an IP filter active, as well as a Proxy filter...
So far i havent heard of anyone non japanese that was able to connect the client. The game is in open beta now, but since all plaync sites are blocked for non-japanese IPs, the chance is very slim that they will ever open it up for everyone.
I think we need to give up on this one, or move to japan.

Looks awesome! Seems like only Japanese people can see the website though? Too bad.

Even German and Australian people can play it.
I did heard(read on IRC) some people to connect to it and some of them are already translating it. Well trying to...
I still won\'t proxy myself into that game. There is a reason why they block foreigners, and it\'s not racism. I guess it\'s a technical one.

Hmm yea but it\'s strange like if i use a german proxy it at least let\'s me see the site... Well let\'s hope there will be an eu version (most like not :P ) or at least some tricky ppl rip it and make a private server :P
EDIT: yea blocking is not racist but this happens to japanese ppl too at many us sites, it\'s just that the developers don\'t want to put an effort for optimising the game for the lagg that comes when you connect from afar.

All you need is a proxy server to mask your ip address with a japanese ip address
After googling for japanese privacy proxy I picked a proxy and the site loaded fine. Unfortunately, my japanese is very limited and I struggled with the site as it is not well documented as tenhou or ron2
the proxy i tried is proxy12345.eu
Anyone with better japanese willing to try this approach just get your google and please report back any success?

Proxy is not enough, as you have to use client (program) to connect with server, so unles you can configure this proxy not only to your web borwser it wont be good.
As to registration, it is hard, you have to register an account at plaync (not at janryumon), then aquire janryumon activation. Its hard for me do describe it more precisly because i read only little in japanese but I managed to get account by clicking through.

Then if you tried it out let us know your experiences :D Because i hope it\'s not one of those everything for the graphics nothing for the gameplay type of games.
