Sites list

Post by chalwa » Sat Jan 17, 2009 10:46 am

I think it would be useful to make sites list on which you can play riichi maajan. So here are those I know:
http://www.ron2.jp/
http://tenhou.net/
http://www.toupai-ou.com/
http://games.yahoo.co.jp/
http://mahjongtime.com/

Others:
offline mahjong for 2 players: http://netdegame.com/mahjong.html
bamboo only for 2 players: http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/bamboo/bamboo.html

Great, a nice list coming up, I\'ll make a sticky out of these one point, could you make some kind of guides to these unless the sites are in english.

Of all these sites I probably prefer Toupai Ou (3rd one on the first list) It combines the best elements of Ron2 and Tenhou. It has a friendly look and feel with nice 3D graphics and in game chat.

Everyone in my dorm plays Tenhou but the only problem is that they have a 15 second limit on deciding what to cut from your hand, which might be too little time for beginners, but other than that I like it because you can just play east round and there\'s games with and without red dora!

First off, welcome to the forums.

Second off, EVERYONE IN YOUR DORM?! What dorm is this? I had to spend hours teaching people at my college before I even got 2 people in my dorm.

Haha I can imagine when I go back home; I\'m studying abroad in Japan right now. I think I am the one who had spread riichi to the rest of the study abroad students :D We\'re actually having a tournament next month...and we split the costs of a table we bought last week...meaning we have 3 tables and 6 mahjong sets XD Our social room is practically a parlor now!

Ive never used that site, but I\'d guess that you\'re right. I\'d bet if you used a free email site not popular in japan (gmx.de?) it\'d work.

You can use any email for Toupaiou, I\'m not aware of any restrictions.

I don\'t know of any English guides yet, but you can ask me any questions you might have. It\'s pretty intuitive.

Just enter one of the lobbies and enter a game room. The top left button on the lobby screen creates your own table and the icons represent the game settings.

It\'s possible to translate most of the interface of Toupaiou

If enough people people are interested I\'ll work on it more.

Also, interesting note: There\'s an Open Riichi button which doesn\'t appear in the low rooms. Maybe it appears in the Dan level rooms?
