There\'s a game called Akko de Pon Ikasama Hourouki. which you can cheat in, on the DS.

It\'s kinda fun, especially when an other players gets the chun and haku pairs you stacked in your wall!

In case anyone\'s curious, this guy is still around. He hangs out a lot at his parlor in Machida, where hes founded a new "style" of Mahjong. Unfortunately, he doesn\'t cheat anymore.

www.jankiryu.com/ (Japanese only)

Its kinda complicated to explain but basically they teach \"self-reliant\" Mahjong by putting restrictions on how you can play. Make all your moves within 3 seconds, no playing defense, no discarding a jihai on the first turn, no hikkake-riichi (riich on 5 and you\'re waiting on 8 or 2) and various other restrictions. It\'s worth trying.

There\'s an SNES rom out there that lets you play by their rules.

Sounds fascinating. I\'ll definitely look into it.

Unfortunately my Japanese reading level will make that a time consuming task.

What do you mean by no defense in Janki Ryu?

For the most part youre not allowed to fold. Not even if you`re in first.

One of the JPML A-Leaguers, Yuko Ito trained with janki and followed the \"no honors on the first discard\" rule for years.

Konno and I just found last week on the Ron2 blog that he proclaimed that from now on he will discard an honor tile even the first discard if necessary!

Just a funny little story.

Takeo Kojima, the year I was born!
He is known as \"Mr. Mahjong\" and I think he was the first one to \"out\" cheating methods on TV. Hey Ben, do you know if that is right?

Enjoy!

This is his version Tsubame-gaeshi (return the sparrow?), one of the ones shown in the Tetsuya video.

Tsubame-Gaeshi is (i think) a reference to the \"Swallow Switch\", a swordfighting move used by Kojiro Sasaki who was the arch rival of Miyamoto Musashi.
