Yet another Nine Gates, this time in The Tricky Master. (1999)
Someone tell these guys it's supposed to be a four-player game.
Yes master, that trick is tricky to master.
(Thanks to damionlai97 on Reddit for the tip.)

A nice mahjong match in All's Well, Ends Well (1992). What could possibly go wrong?
I'll just stack the top layer on my wall and... oops!
She's going for a flush - literally. She grabs his declared kong and puts it down the toilet.

Tonegawa proposes Human Mahjong ("designed to foster betrayal, deception and dissent among the players" - Wikipedia).
This is from episode 4 of the anime Chūkan Kanriroku Tonegawa (a.k.a. Mr Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues) based on the Kaiji manga spin-off.

Life is as beautiful as you want it to be, but it´s only one. That´s why you must not get tired of it. Don´t care if you don´t say something that seems "important" because your mere existence is important for someone.

In the movie "Kaiji 2: Jinsei dakkai gêmu" they also play Mahjong. I do not know exactly what minutes, but after about an hour's time. Personally, I find the Mahjong scene very well represented. It was estimated, however, not more than 20 seconds the play Mahjong.

There are a few mahjong tables at the end of Banzai... just to have a bunch of luggage dropped on them.
Cats don't do タンヤオ (tan-yao) but タニャーオ (ta-nya-o).

Re: Mahjong at the movies?
Thanks Shirl. You didn't mention that the luggage was dumped from an airplane!
(Here in the UK there was a TV show called Banzai which was a spoof of Japanese gameshows. It invited viewers at home to bet with each other on the outcome of silly challenges and events. Most notable was Mr Shake-Hands Man (and his successor, Mr Shake-Hands Man 2) who tried to shake hands with a celebrity for as long as possible.)

Re: Mahjong at the movies?
Midnight Diner (深夜食堂) is a Japanese TV series based on a manga. It's set in a small late-night diner in Shinjuku, with familiar scenes of Kabukichou. Although there are some recurring characters, it has an anthology format, focusing on new characters in each episode.
There are four seasons. The fourth series (2016) was a co-production with Netflix Japan and is available internationally under the title Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories. The fifth episode is about a mahjong gambler with a young boy. There are several scenes in a proper smoky MJ parlour.

Re: Mahjong at the movies?
Strip mahjong with a man and three woman in underwear in The Kung Fu Stars. (1978)
The guy puts down a 7p and all three girls try to take it but he declares a win on it. The girls protest as they were all waiting for the same tile too (one with a very nice hand).
