Those books seem interesting! Did you read them? Are they any good?

Gettin' back to Mahjong in video games:

It's somehow related to the books mentioned earlier... :D Killer 7 is such a great game!

That movie with Jackie Chan (IF it had been him!) was a recent one, from 200x. They were playing casually in some apartment.

It could have been a part of Rush Hour series, but I'm just guessing.

Nice video-game spots, Marek! Here's a shot from Suda51's cult-classic game Killer7 which you linked.

At least my Jackie Chan research was fruitful - the Project A mahjong scene was a good find. :)

...and in fact if I'd stuck with Drunken Master 2 (1994) a little longer I would've been rewarded with some mahjong there too!

At first glance those are neat Japanese rows of six discards but in fact they're melded sets.

An altercation reveals a chessboard on the underside of a table. :)

Connoisseurs of tabletop games will spot this is a Xiangqi (Chinese) rather than a Janggi (Korean) board. This is because the film begins in China (in the Korean prefecture).

I did see one of the movies starring Chow Yun-Fat. It was called The Replacement Killers and I think it was his 1st in the USA.
It was about 15 years ago. Any Mahjong in that one?

I've seen a few of his films - The Killer and Hard Boiled were famous ones - but that was a long time ago.

Now here's something a bit different - Filipino mahjong in the movie Gold, Silver, Death (1982).
