Thankfully, there is one person, willing to host a tournament AND/OR simply teach people how to play the game. So, I wish the best of luck and fun here. Too bad I cannot attent myself.

BGG.con sells out fast every year. About 750 seats taken in 5 days.

Edit: Attendance for 2012 is 2000 people.

800? That's tiny. I'm used to anime conventions, numbering in the thousands. Even so, I see potential in board gaming conventions growing just as large.

Apparently the wiki I read this morning is a few years outdated. I just talked to Aldie (the site owner) and he said they are capping at 2000 attendees for 2012. It did, however, take 3 months to sell out this year.

Still small by Gencon, Origins or virtually any major Anime/Sci-Fi convention.

Cap of 2000. And sell out in 3 months. This con can grow rather easily. I'd say: every major city has the potential to host one of these. In light of the video games these past few decades, the taste for board gaming is growing underneath it. Simply because, video games have become rather bland these days.
