Anyway, in that thread, someone suggested that a normal game might be more insightful to me than the perfect game I posted. So here I'm posting the link of the game I just played at Tenhou. This game ends in a win for me, but it goes all the way to South-4. Though I won, I feel some things might have been done better, and in a game like Mahjong, there's always room to improve, so again I'm asking the more acknowledgeable players around here (if they have the time, I know this might be quite time-consuming) to diagnose my play and see if something comes out that might help more newbies.

I've just played another game in which I won, but it was kinda lucky. Again, I'd like to ask if there is some way to recover the previous days links. I was player 2 (Starting South)

Looking at moderator logs, the first option seems to be the right one. Few topics have been deleted instead of only the spam posts. I'm not sure if it's possible to recover them (I miss the "Young girls porn thumbs" topic).
By the way, Conquer & Destroy seems a bit overreacting.

Hand E1, 9th discard of C-san:
I'm not sure why C-san discard the here.
The would have made his tenpai, even if waiting only for . Maybe he just overlooked the tenpai?
(Ok, is dangerous for South, but I think it worth the risk.)

Hand E2-1:
As a general matter for this hand, it seems you'd focused too much on chitoi and forget to look at other opportunities.
Toitoi seems to be one of them.
A lot of your discards are the others.

Hand E2-2, 3rd discard:

If you fix West as the pair and discard the extra 3m, you could go for sanshoku 789 + chanta + pinfu, or shansoku 678 + pinfu.
By discarding the 9p you limit yourself (however, you maybe have a faster tenpai this way; I haven't checked).

Anyway, leaving anything else aside:

In E1, I first thought "Isn't that 7s too early?" but then I thought, you probably don't want to discard East or the Dora either, so I thought "Okay, it's good to just look at the situation for now, it's only East 1 and that East does look like someone wants it." But later on, a few draws later, you suddenly discarded that East anyway while being still 2 away from tenpai with bad shape. It's just contradicting yourself; you're not defending (as it was quite a dangerous discard) and you're not attacking (as you were limiting yourself a few draws before with that 7s). I'm not saying pushing is wrong, or defending is wrong, I'd just rather have you make some sense. Glad you began folding after that, but you ran one unnecessary risk there... I'm just glad you were okay. You didn't even have the tiles to deal in, but still.

East 2: It's kind of minimal, but I'd recommend discarding that chun before the East, as East is your double wind. Even if you settled on 7 pairs, in your dealer turn you should also keep an eye for "faster" or "easier" ways of winning too...

Also, the player in front of you dealing into your dealer ippatsu twice... a bit too sweet...

East 2-1honba, this is only a matter of style, and I prefer speed over yaku during the dealer turn, so I differ from shirluban as I personally like your 9p discard there. Especially because if you don't draw 9s and then takame-takame twice in a row, it won't be chanta anyway, and even if you keep this faster shape you can still aim for 678 sanshoku with no problem.

And... tired of looking at hands for today. I'll keep looking later. orz
