Question from beginer

Post by Okami » Mon Aug 15, 2016 4:33 pm

I just Learned the basic rules of Mahjong and started playing a bit in Saikyo no Mahjong 3D and I noticed that in some cases I can't call Tsumo or/and Riichi when I think I should be able to and I just can't figure out why is that. This is one such example:

Other example from yesterday was that I had all my "cards" put aside in 3 pairs from combination of pon,kan and chi and only had pair of 1-dot 1-dot in my hand but I also couldn't call Tsumo and could only discard one of them.

So can anyone explain what is going on here and what am I missing?

Hello and welcome.

At riichi mahjong, you need to make special patterns (called yaku) to win.
Here your hand doesn't have any yaku, so you can't win.

See the list of common yaku:

So close to a rare yakuman (best hands possible), though. Shame you discarded that green-dra and the 2-bam earlier.
