Deal the 3 pin to wait on either a straight or a junchan, depending on the draws.

i would discard the just drawn 5. A pinfu is enough for start , and then it can become much more, or not :)

Discard the 6 sou; it\'s the one tile that doesn\'t directly help you achieve junchan, sanshoku, or ittsuu. This admittedly lowers your chances of having a double-sided wait for pinfu, but I think we can shoot higher than that, especially if this is early in the hand.

Good call on the 6.
Have to admit I would have missed that in a game!

6sou
This hand can worth too more with junchan + shan shoku or itsu + dora to stick with just pinfuu.

I think it depends a bit on which rule set we\'re using. I like the 6 bamboos idea if we\'re playing A rules without ippatsu/ura. But if those are part of the game it\'s a tougher call. I\'d like to get the hand to a reachable state and that means having a good wait. So I probably drop 1 of dots if it\'s still early in the hand, or 3 of dots if it\'s getting late.

Hi, I\'m new here. Only been playing mahjong for a few weeks, but I\'ll give my thoughts.
My initial reaction was to drop the 5 Man tile. My thinking for this was that if a 6 Man tile did drop, I\'d just use that for a pair wait. Also 6-7 Sou/1-3 Pin are much closer to that fourth set that we need than what we can get for waiting for 2 extra tiles around the 5 Man. Even if you miss out on the 1-2-3 Pin set for whatever reason (the 2\'s go out on a kong/pung or discard) its possible to complete 6-7-8 Sou and if things don\'t go your way you can discard the terminal and go for a pinfu. But if you get the 9 Sou then you can discard the 6 Sou and go for junchan. In short, by discarding the 5 there are plenty of ways to still get a decent hand whilst being safe if you think a quick win is needed.
