Keeps your options open for either the 3-4-5 sanshoku or the iipeikou (or both, if you\'re lucky enough to draw two 4-crak). The tanyao is a nice bonus, too.

I would also discard 9-dot, to go for iipeikou + tanyao + dora + possible pinfuu + riichi. (or sanshoku if I draw a 4wan first)

yeah, i\'d discard 9pin as well, for the same reasons already mentioned.

yeah, I think 9 dots is pretty much a no brainer here. Be interested to hear if anyone has a good argument for any other answer. We\'re a little disappointed if we draw the 4 of characters as we would have been ready with possible 3 colored crap, but then the wrong bamboo could come anyway. Better to take the sure Simples by getting rid of the 9\'s. Can still go for 3 Colored Crap, even after anyway.

The only way I could justify another answer would be if I could already see two 6 of characters on the table so there was only one more left and there weren\'t many 4 of characters already out. Then I might drop the 7 characters.

Yeah, 9pin as well. Aside from the above comments, it tends to be a safe tile, and once it is discarded once, second time is almost guaranteed, although iipeikou\'s kanmachi is hard to land.
