Only backfire is another 4-sou. The 34 shape is already good.
It would be nice to pon the east and draw 7man for the dora, but we can't break the other penchan waits yet. Any win here is good with that central pot and renchan.

Throw my hands up in frustration at Dora 10.
I would discard and aim for open chanta, but if I can grab another 
I'll abandon chanta and make a meld out of 
if it will make me faster.
I don't think I need to stay closed to try and make some monster hand to chase first place. This is clearly going to be a battle for 2nd place, my main goal is to get nudged into 2nd place and retain dealer.
