What would you discard? I think I'd discard one of the dragons, since the rest of the hand looks quite nice, with a possible two runs in crak; the player discarded 5 crak, though, and the next tile she they drew was a green dragon.

On one hand I understand going with the dragons can give yaku, but on the other hand you lose a chance to seven pairs and to two runs.

My first thought is to go with a dragon also.
However, I would need to know a few things before making a final decision.
1. Is the south wind of any importance to me?
2. How many tiles are left in the wall?
3. What tiles have been discarded/melded by other players?
4. The score. Am I behind or ahead, and by how much?
5. At what point in the East/South round are we?

Maybe, just maybe, I might need Honitsu in addition to the other possible yaku.

This is the situation:

How this affect the discard? Since it's dora you could want a quick hand, so hoping to draw a dragon is better?

But wouldn't discard a crak go against this? With six craks, two dots and two bams, if I want to go for honitsu wouldn't be better to keep the five, which isn't isolated?

The south wind would provide a yaku if I was sitting south or in the south round, which would yield more points should I need them, and make me feel better about discarding a dragon, or even opening the hand. None of this turns out to be the case

I am not considering discarding any of the cracks.
If I was way behind in points, I might consider discarding the dots and bams since I now know it's very early in the hand, and there are two 9-dot and two 5-bam already showing, making that honitsu more tempting. ( A 6-dot is also showing)

And, since I now know that the :south are dora, there are even more points on the table.
A mangan would certainly help the situation.
It comes down to how aggressive you want to be.

What I meant is, also if south was my or round's wind, I don't think I'd discard crak, so I was wondering if you thought of any situation in which depending on south you would, since you asked of south is of any importance to you.

I would not discard :south under any circumstances here.
What I meant by "importance" is, was it worth any points or yaku to me?
You cleared that up. No Yaku. Dora points.
That , along with the other information you provided, would help me decide which way to go with the hand.
If the 7-dot 8-dot and 6-bam 7-bam partials filled in early, after discarding the dragons, then the 5-crak would go, riichi and 2 dora would be OK for me. Forget honitsu.
I try to keep all options open, if I can.
