Scoring method?

Post by zzo38 » Sun May 03, 2009 11:20 pm

I just want to know what method some people use to score. Do you use the tables, or do you use the calcuations, or just do it by computer?

I prefer to use the calcuations, but many people prefer the table.

Surely learning it by memory is the only way to go?

I think the easiest way is to learn the approximations below then learn how much +/- the fu count gives you, but this is pretty much all you need to know for planning purposes:

1 = 1000
2 = 2000
3 = 4000
4-5 = 8000
6-7 = 12000
8-10 = 16000
11-12 = 24000
13 = 32000

For Dealer just add 50%:

1 = 1500
2 = 3000
3 = 6000
4-5 = 12000
6-7 = 18000
8-10 = 24000
11-12 = 36000
13 = 48000

In my opinion, simplifying scoring system (like throwing away fu) is not necessary, and the 200, 100 points differences are very important (imho). Counting score is hard only at the beginning, after you do it (for example with table) for few months its really fast and easy.

When playing with friends I use tables, because they are faster then manual counting, but I don’t know them by memory (except limits), so when I forgot to take tables with me I just take calculator and counting goes fast as well (it’s not as hard as it looks at first sight XD
