It’s Sunday 26th July 2009 10:00am and a young excitable group of Mahjong players from around Europe sit down at the Austrian Open Riichi Tournament 2009 first round of what promises to be and interesting day of play at the Go7 Venue in central Vienna.

Re:LIVE FROM AUSTRIAN OPEN 2009 Round 2 Results
Okay as Round 2 begins our very own Gemma starts in last position at number 20 of 20,when asked she said she had great hands but just didn\'t get that last tile to win.
A very unfortunate start for our RM.com representative but maybe luck will swing in her favour during Round 2.
Andreas had a fantastic start with 40,000+ and Alex, Verena, Chang and Robert all managed to break the 20,000pts mark in the first round.
So let’s find out how the results of round 2 have affected the leader board…
Positions After Round 2
1. Andreas Schittwiesser 72200
2. Alexander Doppelhofer 47700
3. Tobias Klupfel 46900
4. Lena Weinguny 42000
5. Chang Xue 35900
6. Botond Kis 11500
7. Michael Sturm 9800
8. Nils Mayerhofer 7400
9. Robert Sjoblom 400
10. Verena Essbuchl -7400

Re:LIVE FROM AUSTRIAN OPEN 2009 Round 3 Results
Okay Round 3 has begun and as expected the gap is opening up between the leaders and the rest of the pack.
Looking around the room now there appears to be some pressure strains on some of the higher placed players each unwilling to miss out on potential points and equally eager not to lose valuable points as we slowly head towards the end of the third round.
Positions After Round 3
1. Tobias Klupfel 99100
2. Andreas Schrittwieser 89200
3. Alexander Doppelhofer 76100
4. Chang Xue 59100
5. Botond Kis 32100
6. Lena Weinguny 17600
7. Nils Mayerhofer 7400
8. Birgitt Rupp 2400
9. Robert Sjobolm -4500
10. Georg Richter -7300
For all the Gemma fans out there she is at this stage in 14th place after playing to good recovery rounds but alas after the first round going over 50,000 into to minus there was no real way back into the top positions for her in this tournament.
The Last round is currently in progress and we will inform you as soon as we know the final results.

Re:LIVE FROM AUSTRIAN OPEN 2009 Final Results
Well here we are It’s the 4th and Final Round of the Austrian Open 2009
Who will be crowned Riichi king in Vienna this year?
Will Tobias Klupfel hold out until the end of the competition, can Andreas Schrittwieser hit the big hand they have been looking for and edge their way to the number one spot? Could either Alexander Doppelhofer or Chang Xue still muster up enough points in this the last of the 4 quarters and muscle in with some close combat to snatch a victory? As you all know Mahjong can be a funny yet fickle game at times and that ‘time’ is the only thing that will tell.
