Dealer System and dora

This is a reply to something raised in another thread regarding the dealer system and dora.

I\'ve been on these boards like a maniac for the past couple of days and kinda need to lay off so Im going to just post the gist of my reasoning.

As my friend Juho used to say, there are two simple elements in a game that has good strategy. Lots of opportunities to make choices is one. That the choices are significant is another. The dealer system and dora add these elements to riichi because, if you are always aiming for first place, you will play hands differently depending on what dora is and whether or not you are dealer.

If you\'re curious about the dora bit, you might want to try a little experiment I\'ve been thinking about. I\'ll start a thread on that in a second.
