East has option to quit after winning final hand?

I play Reach on PS2/PS3 games and there´s one rule I haven´t been able to fully figure out yet.
When the last hand of the final round ends in a Dealer win or a draw the game comes to an end instead of having an extra hand as usual. If any riichi stakes are left on the table they are paid to the winner as part of the uma.
Occasionally (when I´m East in the final hand and in first place?) if I win the final hand I´m given the option to either end the game or continue with an extra hand as normal.
Is this a standard rule and, if so, what´s the formal definition of it?
