unless I'm misunderstanding what you all mean with "demise"...
Spoiler: show
After the nine year time skip at the end of Ten it is revealed that Akagi has Alzheimers disease, he decides to kill himself in order to preserve his consciousness instead of slowly rotting away. Akagi invites all the players from the East Vs West showdown to a vigil to share their last words with him before he commits suicide. On the night of the vigil Akagi preforms a miracle in front of Soga by matching up nine face down mahjong tiles perfectly. After speaking giving his final words to everyone Akagi ends his life with a smile on his face.

really? the things I'm missing by not reading manga.
(demise is the time when something ends, like death or dying, like when an illithid makes you tear out your own spine.
Doesn't have to refer to actual death, for example, his lying caused the demise of his secret plan)

You really do yourself a disservice starting the story here:

But it will answer your question, how does Akagi meet his demise.

That would be like reading the last chapter of a mystery before reading the rest of the book.

Better that you start from the beginning, and by beginning, the beginning of the end... it's kind of like Star Wars, which started with episode 4, and then later went back to the beginning. With Akagi, he was a character first introduced in Ten Tenna Toori No Kaidanji, when he is an old man. Then the series Akagi later came out to explain where old man Akagi came from and how he rose to be a legend.

understood.
however, as an example, if one only knew of episode 123 of star wars, one might ask what happened to anikan after he became darth vader until someone informed one that there were episodes 456 which explained it.
thanks for the prequel/sequel info on akagi.
