Honba count

Post by Robert » Mon Oct 26, 2009 12:16 am

Is it true in riichi that, every time the oya (dealer) changes, the honba count resets to zero?

I was playing on Toupai-ou today, and the honba count kept increasing through at least two dealer changes. (In case you\'re curious, it reached 11.) Does this mean there\'s a bug?

No, it doesn\'t reset every time the dealer changes. Only if the hand is won (by non-east). If the hand is drawn, the honba increases whether or not the dealer changes.

Had this happen to me in an IRL game yesterday.

East 3-0 went to a draw, and the dealer wasn\'t in Tempai.
Thus, East 4 started from its first bonus round ^^;.
