Itsu and Mahjong Time

Hi guys,
Today I was playing a bit on Mahjong Time when I was able to get this hand:

(concealed)
4-crak 4-crak 7-crak 8-crak 9-crak 4-dot red-dot 6-dot 7-dot 8-dot 8-dot
(exposed)
1-dot 2-dot 3-dot

NOTE: I\'m not sure if the 5 pin was actually red or not but I\'ts not so important.

I thought I could get an Itsu, not so many points but still a hand, but then someone discarded a 9-dot but when I tried to claim it to go out it said i made a wrong move...

I checked on the EMA riichi handsheet and I saw it needs not to be concealed to be made but it just give an additional yaku if it is, so I don\'t understand; do MT use different rule variations?

You didn\'t really have two eight-dots, did you? Because the illustration shows 14 tiles in your hand, not 13.

Ok, this is embarassing to admit but since you are obviously right I can only assume I THOUGHT I had that hand while I was instead missing a tile...

Maybe I counted twice the 6 pin, thinking i had both the 6 and the 7 :S

I suppose you had only one 8 dot.
So your hand was rather :
(concealed)
4-crak 4-crak 7-crak 8-crak 9-crak 4-dot red-dot 6-dot 7-dot 8-dot
(exposed)
1-dot 2-dot 3-dot

Claiming a 9-dot to go out (with itsu) is ok, if you are not furiten.

You\'re waiting on 3, 6 and 9 dot, so check you don\'t have any of these among your discards.
Beware of temporary furiten too.

Unfortunately i remember clearly the 8 pin couple; I also couldn\'t be furiten because I was keeping pins since the beginning (I was aiming for an itsu + full flush at the beginning but then got the cracks while discarding the honors and the trash) and neither temporary furiten because it was the first 9 pin of the go-around. :S
I really guess that when I got the first 8 pin (the turn before getting the second one IIRC) I wrongly thought I missed only the 9 pin so I didn\'t double check to make sure ;__;

Oh, wait a second, now I remembered a detail... It\'s true that I had a couple of 8 pins but I got the second one AFTER having to pass on the 9 pin and I discarded it right away...
So the real question remains, why wasn\'t I able to claim the 9 pin? I\'m absolutely positive I wasn\'t in Furiten because I was waiting for the 9 for a while...
My better guess is that I had a couple of 6 or 7 pins and mistook one of them for the other...

Meh, I\'ll try and make an itsu again on MJ Time and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies and sorry if I wasted your time.

After I produced Shanghai Dynasty, I often got users writing in to Activision to ask why the computer wouldn\'t let them win on this hand or that hand. I always had to ask them for screen shots that showed exactly what the table (and the hand) looked like JUST BEFORE the problem, and for a screen shot of the settings (what options they\'d selected before starting play).
I hated the fact that nobody could possibly ever have a screen shot of those (especially the pre-problem situation) but there was no way I could definitively answer the question without the information.
If I had the game to redesign over again, I\'d include a feature like the one on Ron2, where you can rerun any hand and even see what tiles the opponents had.
But to get back to your situation, all you can do now is wait until another situation happens, then document it as well as you possibly can.

You are of course right. When I was denied to go out I was too surprised about that and didn\'t think about taking a screen :(
In fact the first thing I thought was \"The hand should be concealed\", not that it was a game bug.

It was only when I actually discovered that the Itsu didn\'t need to be concealed that I started wondering why I couldn\'t claim the tile and at that point taking a screen was not possible anymore :)

I\'ll try to recreate that situation somewhere and see what happens and this time I\'ll take a screen if that happens again.
