Post by Bashoomba » Tue Nov 30, 2010 3:12 pm

Hey, i know that you can by mats for mahjong and such, but i have a game room in my home the i would like to put a mahjong table in it. Ive seen pics of nice talbes with the indendent center on some website advertisements like WSOM and USPML. Just curious if there is anywhere selling these kinds of a tables commercially, at least in the US?

thank,

You might be better off tempting to build one yourself if you're crafty at all. If not it could always be a learning experience

There are no known shippers across North America, you could try to personally contact an overseas suppliers and see if that can yield any results

Hi Bash,

I don't know where you're based but the USPML guys have found a few outlets in the New York area.

Robert mentions WTWB in Texas who list a mechanical table - more ornate than your typical Japanese ones. US$1200 plus shipping!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'indendent'! :? If you mean one with a raised lip around the edge so that the playing surface is recessed slightly then you could always think about buying an appropriately sized square table and adding the fabric and lip yourself.

I guess if you have a dedicated games room (nice!) you can leave the table ready for a game. Otherwise you could think about getting a smallish square dining table and making a removable lipped fabric-coated gaming surface (like a rigid junk-mat) which you could store vertically behind a cupboard or something.
