I started playing the PSP version of Mahjong Taikai a few days ago. It has exactly the same range of rule options and rule-sets available.
Last night I made my first Yakuman in stage 5 of the league mode and I beat my previous record score on the DS version. Check this out!
It was the first hand of the match so my score was previously 25,000 pts.
I was east so the Yakuman was worth 48,000 pts.
However I was also the Wareme player and I won by Tsumo so I actually scored 48k x 2 = 96,000 pts.
My new score was 25k + 96k = 121,000 pts. This busted all three opponents and ended the match.
The match was played with the Infure (inflation) rule-set with 30k buy-in, 24k starts, 20-30 Uma, 30k Dobon penalties, 20k Yakitori penalties and bonus chips.
Here's the calculation of my final score (using this method).
121
+24 (Oka bonus for winner)
-30 (buy-in)
+30 (Uma for winner)
+90 (3x30 bonuses for busting all three opponents)
+60 (3x20 Yakitori penalties because the other players won no hands)
+75 (15 chips for completing a Yakuman)
+10 (Sashiuma side-bet)
=380
My final score was equivalent to a profit of 380k pts. Gave me a pretty comfortable lead going into the final match.
I was tickled by how the various factors combined to create a "perfect storm" for my opponents.
If I had won by Ron then only the discarder would've been busted.
If I hadn't been east then only the dealer would've been busted.
If I hadn't been Wareme then only the Wareme player would've been busted.
If it had been later in the game then the other players might've won some hands.

Re: Some exotic rule options
That hand must've left my computer opponents with a Bad Attitude and Howling Mad.
It was Suu Ankou - one of the three "easy" ones!
Had to push bravely against that open hand and a Riichi with two Kan Dora. Would've just reset if it all went horribly wrong.
Only just noticed the counter is showing zero - I won on the last tile too!

Thankfully, we never used these:

Though, I did get to try it once. They were very dumb rules.
