riichi mahjong scoring app

Ran across an app for scoring winning hands in Japanese Mahjong. You select the Fu and Han achieved, and whether you were dealer or not, and you get
1) the number of base points (kihonten)
2) total points for a ron win
3) points for a tsumo win from the dealer (if you were not)
4) points for a tsumo win from the non-dealers
For example, suppose you won with 30 Fu and 4 Han and you were not the dealer.
Result, The base points total 1920 pts, which round off to 2000 pts from each non-dealer for a tsumo win, and 3900 pts from the dealer (who pays double), for a total of 7700 pts, which is the same as what you would get from the discarder if it was a ron win.
The app also has a Fu calculator which helps you get the total Fu from the elements of the winning hand.
My review and opinion: Interesting, and somewhat helpful, for a beginner, but once you know the game sufficiently, worthless, not worth the time and energy to use, and so much easier to have a chart in front of you, if you need it.
Note: The app is entirely in japanese, some translation help in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=53180&start=75#p57337

Found another app, by accident, that has to do with scoring. Oddly enough, it's called Mahjong KIDS, by Design ATOM Games.
It's basically a scoring chart, dealer and non-dealer, tsumo and ron, and limit hands.
It also has a listing of all yaku, in numerical order, and yakumans, with a link to Wikipedia Japan, which provides a ton of information about each one.
Cool, if you can read japanese, way too much to have translated.
However, if you can translate the light blue box for tanyao, I would appreciate it.

The Tanyao light blue box says that depending on the rules tanyao might be menzen yaku (closed, no calls). Just that.

Another scoring app, this one on android, simple, fast, and it's in english. All 4 scoring charts in one box. (and only 42 kilobytes)
Enter East or other, tsumo or ron, number of fu and han and that's it.
(It does list values for 20 fu ron hands but since we know there is no such animal, we just won't enter those numbers)

Here's a picture of Saki, Akagi, and Tetsuya, at a mahjong table. Who will win this game?

One of the guys. Probably Akagi, because that guy is an uncanny natural. Saki will end with +/-0

As it's not an automatic table, there's a decent chance that Tetsuya will be the winner, although he's going to have to work like mad to get anything past Akagi.

Akagi doesn't really seek for winning, but for destroying his opponent.
So, Tetsuya will end first (since he's focused on actually winning), Akagi second, Saki 0 (obviously), and "Player" shall never be seen again after embarking on some yakusa's yach.

Do a mix like in this pic, and you'll get a serious beating from these ladies.

Image

Miyanaga Saki=Akagi Shigeru
Amae Koromo=Washizu Iwao
Kajiki Yumi=Ichikawa
Ikeda Kana=Yagi Keiji (In my opinion, as Kana has also bad teeth, she should be a mix of Yagi and Urabe)

Interesting, but disturbing.

A friend of mine uses this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... RiichiCalc I haven't used it a lot, but when I did it seemed to work fine. It exists also web-based: http://mahjong.onevis.net/

Akagi may be uncanny but Saki is certainly never unKANny. ;)

Wow that's quite, er, wow.

PS Kana-chan looks upset. Perhaps she saw your comment about her teeth!

A score calculator you can actually use at the table, which I did. Quick and easy. It's an Android app in the google play store, and free.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... RiichiCalc
I have been told (by Mauro) that it is also available on the web. http://mahjong.onevis.net/

Suppose you won the following concealed hand with a riichi ron on the red five. It is South round and you are East.

4-bam 5-bam-red 6-bam red-dra red-dra red-dra 2-dot 2-dot 2-dot 5-crak :back :back 5-crak :east :east

Enter the hand on the 1st screen and the other information on the 2nd. Then hit Calculate Hand. It does it all.
(When entering exposed sets or a concealed kan, use the buttons on the 1st screen, otherwise, just hit the tiles.)

Unbelievable! What will they think of next?

There is a 4th screen included which scores the hand if you prefer to total the fu and han yourself.
It is basically the same as the one a few posts above.

When I mentioned to one of the lady mahjong players that this calculator could also be used in the chinese game to add up the fu points (except for the flowers), she looked at me and said " f...u...?.." I did a double take.....and smiled.

I have only used the web version, but a friend of mine uses the app (and used it with me at the table), and as far as I saw it it's good; the only thing to take care of is to input the winning tile as last. So, if your winning hand is

1-crak 2-crak 3-crak 3-dot 4-dot 5-dot 7-dot 8-dot 9-dot 2-bam 3-bam 4-bam :east :east :east

won by ronning 1-crak, input

2-crak 3-crak 3-dot 4-dot 5-dot 7-dot 8-dot 9-dot 2-bam 3-bam 4-bam :east :east :east 1-crak

Actually, you don't have to do that. Just put your finger on whatever tile you wish to designate as the winning tile and it will be highlighted.
Another thing I noticed is that if you only enter the 13 tile tenpai hand instead of a winning hand, it calculates your waits.
